Called <u>Martin Gardner</u> (actually 3 times before I got every-
thing taken care of). Told him of looking for his book-
"''The Annotated Shark''" in London.
He couldn't tell me anything further about the letter on
<u>PATTERNS II</u> - <u>CREATOR</u> (see 11/25). The call he made to me
last week was in connection with a letter he rcd. [received] from
The Problem Editor of the "''American Mathematical Monthly''" who
wanted information of <u>Lasker</u>'s game of <u>LASCA</u>. (He wrote
from Israel.) Martin told him about the description in
<u>Kraitchik</u> and suggested that for further info he contact me.
Martin wondered which <u>Lasker</u> invented the game -
whether it was the same one who wrote the book
<u>GO AND GO-MOKU</u>. I checked and found that the article he had
once given me on <u>LASKERS</u> stated that it was invented by
<u>Emanuel Lasker</u>. The book was written by <u>Edward Lasker</u>. |
