28 TUESDAY - NOVEMBER 1972

333RD DAY - 33 DAYS TO COME
----
Rcd. [received] the signed release for <u>TAM-BIT</u> and <u>TAKE FIVE</u> back from
<u>Irv. Lubow</u> at Renwal.
<u>Felicia</u> called. <u>Bob Johnson</u> is still crazy about <u>FOCUS</u>. He is giving it
to an entirely independent test panel. (He has been slowed up because
of his 30 year old brother's very serious heart attack.) <br>
<u>BACKGAMMON</u>, she hears, is the biggest thing around.
She has a lot of <u>GAME</u>S to show me next time I come in.
M.B. is taking over E.S. Lowe. <br>
Binney (spelling ?) the crayon people are taking over Edu-U-Cards [Ed-U-Cards].
But Ed-U-Cards will still be autominous [autonomous]. <br>
I told her that I had seen <u>Graeme Levin</u> and delivered her
messages. Also that I had copies of <u>''S & T''</u> for her. <br>
Told her that I didn't get a chance to call <u>O'Connor Barrett</u>. <br>
Also that he is pretty far from London.
Called <u>Phil Orbanes</u> and he called me back.  <br>
He has made some more refinements in <u>REALM</u>. We'll get together
for more play-testing in a week or so. <u>Van Zedwitz</u> likes the
names "Regent, Lance, and Crest" for the pieces. In writing the
rules Phil used the format that 3M used for <u>ACQUIRE</u>- having
a glossery [glossary] of terms at the beginning. <br>
He didn't hear anything from Herb Hochstetter. <br>
<u>Carl Eisenberg</u> told him that things are happening, but didn't tell
him what.
Hoi Polloi wants to bring out <u>AQUARIUS 2000</u> again as a mail order
item. To trim the price they asked Phil to accept a flat fee
instead of royalties. If it goes he would get [illegible word crossed out] that amount in a
year or two, but he decided to accept the offer, since it
will get him out of the debt he ran up because of Renwal -
with a little left over for him.
He is working on <u>INFINITY</u> and it is coming along very well.
I told him that I got the release from Renwal. I brought up the
idea of <u>TAM-BIT</u> for the $3 "Gamut of Games" line, if
it comes along. He concurs.
<u>Claude</u> called. Invited him for supper Friday. I'll try to get
<u>Arthur</u> and <u>Wald</u> too. Claude would like to test <u>MANIPULATION</u>
again. Told him its O.K. with me but I'm sure that Arthur
won't have the patience. I'll let Claude know whether they
are coming or not.

----
Call from <u>Claude</u>. He asked if I had a book on wargaming -
<u>''THE BOMB AND THE COMPUTER''</u>. He has one and sees that
Schulte's - the new management that is, which has set a
$1 price on almost all the books - has a copy. Told him I'd
like one.
