325th day - 41 days to come

Called Graeme Levin when I got to hotel. The best day for meeting Don Turnbull is today. I agreed, even tho I slept very little in the plane.
To Graeme's office at 11 Tottenham Ct. Rd. WI with BB at about 7:30. Graeme treated us and Don & Pam Turnbull to supper (we had omelettes).
Gave Graeme my ACQUIRE article.
Told him what Felicia had told me about his U.S. distributor not knowing about G & P when she called. He asked to have her call again. I said I'd tell her but that I'm not sure she'll do it.
Brought the copies of TRIPPPLES, SUMMIT, and THE FAMILY GAME and told them to decide how to divide them. Don insisted on having first look at the first two.
Graeme had games piled all over the place, and others in a nearby hotel which the men went to see. I took BIGBOSS and SPELLBOUND to look at at our hotel.
Looked at HONEYCOMB. The board is as shown, with the lines representing grooves. There is a supply of pcs., [line bent at an angle], made to fit into two adjacent sides of a hex. The game is played like BOXES, except that it is possible for some of the hexes not to be captured by either player.
[diagram of many contiguous hexagons, making a honeycomb design]
Looked at MASOSHISTICS. Ti si a puzzle of placing pcs. to fill in a square area. But there are a great many pieces of different shapes. (Colors too, tho this is only for decorative purposes.)
Looked at DAFT DRAUGHTS. (Put out by the English Parker Brothers). The board is divided by colored, dead spaces into a series of intersecting paths (with 4-fold symmetry I believe). At the intersections there are directional arrows. [diagram of tic tac toe board with outer squares shaded, and crossing down and right arrows in the center] Players have about 6 pcs. (the same as one of the pieces in TAKE THE BRAIN) which are started at one side of the board - a different side for each player. Movement is one space at a time, along the path in the direction of the arrows. At an intersection (incidentally the intersections are quite frequent) the player can change directions to the other crossing arrow. Captures are by landing on an opponent (altho Graeme was not sure of this). If another opponent's pc. is now next to the capturing pc. and in his path of direction it too can be captured, etc. (Decided to buy a copy.)
Looked at POLYOPTOMY and THE GAME briefly. I'll copy them when I come later in the week.
Arranged with Don Turnbull and Pam to visit them in Cambridge Sunday, taking a train that arrives there 1:50 P.M.
Don took a copy of Graeme's CARD CRICKET and I took one also.
After Don & Pam left I called Michael Dummett. I'll meet him at 12:57 P.M. on Wednesday at Paddington Station and take him to lunch at the Lyons Corner House at Marble Arch Graeme will try to join us.
Took copies of G & P for Felicia and for me: - #4 - 2 of, #6 - 4 of,

  1. 7 - 9 of, #8 - 9 of. // Graeme didn't mention AGOG at all.

Arranged to visit Graeme at his office again, Friday at 4 P.M.
