304TH DAY - 62 DAYS TO COME

Called Stan Chess and later he called me back. In the mean time I got a letter from him. (post-marked 10/16) in- viting us for supper at the Bredehorns this Friday. When I spoke to Stan I invited him for supper tonight.

Stan here for supper. Discussed games in general and some of the games of George Bredehorn that we will play on Friday. He looked at MYWORD! and I asked if he thought George would like a copy. Yes.

Stan showed me the prototype of his magazine GAME. He has come up with financing and hopes to have the first edition ready for Toy Fair. At first it will be bi-monthly but he hopes to in- crease it to monthly. He expects to have fictional and non-fictional pieces by name authors. Cleveland Armory will do one for the first issues. In the mock-up he had a dummy heading for a piece by me. He intends to have a centerfold game in each issue. In the prototype he had the diagram of BLUE AND GRAY

I told Stan that at the present time I couldn't take on any additional obligations. And also that Jim Dunnigan had been considering a similar magazine. He said that he understood and that he'd just like to have my opinions on what he was planning. I said that I thought game reviews should be a definite part of the magazine, with possible twin reviews - pro and con. Another suggestions:- Give mini-reviews in the magazine and then have mimeod [mimeographed?] larger reviews which readers could get by sending a stamped envelope.

My col- umn is being held for the X'Mas [Christmas] edition of BOOK WORLD. I can change the reviews or add a few new ones if I wish. I told her I'd look into it and get back to her this week.

Mike Baschkopf called and asked me to come to his office as a "warm body" tomorrow. Called Phil Orbanes and changed our date for to- morrow. I'll go to Phil's house to work on the p. and p. games. Called Mike and told him I'd be there.
I had started the rules for THE ADD-A-LETTER GAME but decided to finish them tomorrow.

Got an idea for THE GO-ROUND GAME to avoid favoritism. Whenever a player gives up the move he must move his furthest back pc. [piece]

BB was looking thru [through] some papers and came across an article from ECOLOGY TODAY on NEW TOWN , clipped to a letter from a college professor. She didn't remember where she got it but it looks as if it came from simulations. (filed in Simulations box.)

Called Marvin Channing and told him that in figuring my (cont. on 10/25)
