Called <u>Stan Chess</u> and later he called me back. In the mean
time I got a letter from him. (post-marked 10/16) in-
viting us for supper at the <u>Bredehorn<u>s this Friday. When
I spoke to Stan I invited him for supper tonight.
<u>Stan</u> here for supper. Discussed games in general and some of the
games of <u>George Bredehorn</u> that we will play on Friday. He looked
at <u>MYWORD!</u> and I asked if he thought George would like a copy. Yes.
Stan showed me the prototype of his magazine <u>GAME</u>. He has
come up with financing and hopes to have the first edition ready
for Toy Fair. At first it will be bi-monthly but he hopes to in-
crease it to monthly. He expects to have fictional and non-fictional
pieces by name authors. Cleveland Armory will do one for the first
issues. In the mock-up he had a dummy heading for a piece by me.
He intends to have a centerfold game in each issues. In the
prototype he had the diagram of <u>BLUE AND GRAY</u>
I told Stan that at the present time I couldn't take on
any additional obligations. And also that <u>Jim Dunnigan</u> had been
considering a similar magazine. He said that he understood and
that he'd just like to have my opinions on what he was planning.
I said that I thought game reviews should be a definite part of
the magazine, with possible twin reviews - pro and con. Another
suggestions:- Give mini-reviews in the magazine and then have
mimeod [?] larger reviews which readers could get by sending a stamped
envelope. | |||
Called <u>Eve Auchincloss</u> and told her that I only rcd. [received] $150 from
the <u>WASHINGTON POST</u>. She checked and called me back. I should
cash the check and they'll send me another for $50. My col-
umn is being held for the X'Mas [Christmas] edition of <u>BOOK WORLD</u>. I
can change the reviews or add a few new ones if I wish. I
told her I'd look into it and get back to her this week.
<u>Mike Baschkopf</u> called and asked me to come to his office as a "warm
body" tomorrow. Called <u>Phil Orbanes</u> and changed our date for to-
morrow. I'll go to Phil's house to work on the p. and p. games.
Called Mike and told him I'd be there.
I had started the rules for <u>THE ADD-A-LETTER GAME</u> but decided
to finish them tomorrow.
Got an idea for <u>THE GO-ROUND GAME</u> to avoid favoritism. Whenever
a player gives up the move he must move his furthest back
pc. | |||
BB was looking thru [through] some papers and came across an article from
<u>ECOLOGY TODAY</u> on <u>NEW TOWN</u> , clipped to a letter from a college
professor. She didn't remember where she got it but it looks
as if it came from simulations. (filed in Simulations box.)
Called <u>Marvin Channing</u> and told him that in figuring my
