VETERANS' DAY - 297TH DAY - 69 DAYS TO COME

Put the finishing touches on the eight games for today, putting on contact and cutting the boards in half. To Fred Feucht Didn't get a call from Fred Feucht so I called him. In and I arranged to go there at 1:30 today.

To Fred's and showed him what I did with AIR BATTLE, WILDCAT, and SWORDSMAN. Actually I made mistake by using a matte surface for the boards [illegible word crossed out] because the crayon doesn't go on smoothly. He tried a grease pencil and that seems to work better. He kept the boards and will get some grease pencils for a presentation.

We played TAKE-A-WORD (he played first and beat me by 2 points) and he liked it.

To Brentano's and saw three of the Piet Hein puzzles Edson spoke to me about last year. BLOXBOX is the 7 small boxes Blocks inside a transparent box. CRUX is the three wooden pieces that meet at a point. TWICHIT is a 12 surfaced solid with the 12 pentagons mounted so that they can turn. Different symboles on the edges must be matched.

Also saw GENERATION RAP and THE GARBAGE GAME, both by the same manufacturer. Didn't see the inside of the first and just glanced at the second. There are jigsaw pcs. [pieces] that must be put together into a number of dif- ferent pictures. If a player takes too many pcs. [pieces] he is penalized for waste. It is packaged in a plastic garbage can.

To Grey Advertising for meeting with Phil Orbanes, Herb Hochstetter, Lee Krest and Lee's assistant - Peter? I showed THE ADD-A-LETTER GAME, SUPER-TAC-TOE, THE GO-ROUND GAME, and THE PRIZE COLOR GAME. Phil showed ADVANCE and GOLD-DIGGERS. (He gave me his rules for these two games and for STEPPING STONES. I took all the info for GOLD-DIGGERS, but didn't get the layour of the cards for ADVANCE.)

In ADVANCE Phil has a "special card" for each player. His orig- inal rules was that it could only be used once during a game. I suggested that once both players had used theirs they could be picked up and used again. Phil liked it.

In SUPER-TAC-TOE a few of them thought that the colors were confusing. We'll make the 4 corners red too, eliminating player of black squares in the corners.

Lee Krest at first wanted to show STEPPING STONES, THE ADD-A-LETTER GAME, and SUPER-TAC-TOE to Post. The others convinced him that THE GO-ROUND GAME was great. I'm to have the rules for my three finished by the middle of next week.

Lee and Peter were impressed with how I had changed two games and came up with two others to meet their specifications. If they have any other game possibilities they will call on me.

Lee said to be sure that the rules could be read under- stood by children. They'll be presented as we write them to a test panel of children.
