Sent check <s>with</s> for $2.00 and following message on
small P.E. Stationary - "Please find enclosed a check for
$2.00 in payment for your POFORA CHART FOOTBALL GAME
(also BASEBALL & BASKETBALL played with regular cards)
as advertised in ''College Football Magazine''. (see 9/25.)
Sent check for $2.50 and following message on small P.E. station-
ery [stationary] -" I am enclosing a check for $2.50 in payment for a copy of your
game SHACKLES, as advertised in New York Magazine. I realize that
this ad ran some time ago, but it was just called to my attention.
I hope that the game is still available. If you publish any other
games I would be interested in learning about them." (see 9/29.)
Before writing letter checked info and got telephone number
[phone number]. Called and it was a piano tuner with a machine to
leave a message. Didn't.
Also enclosed a Simulations Pub. card - with home address stamped on.
Called Jack Davis. He had called me to see if the BOOK WORLD
review of EVADE was out yet. Told him I'd call him as
soon as I received word on it myself.
He still hasn't gotten IMAGE back from the photographer. He
saw a row of them in Brentanos, which made him angry.
Called Eve Auchincloss (about STRATO TAC-TICS). Not in and I
left word for her to call me. She didn't.
Called Fred Feucht. He's also busy this week. I'll call him
on Friday and we'll set up a date next week to show him
what I've done with the boards. He may do some art work on
them before setting up something with M.B.
Called Jim Dunnigan to check if my deadline had been moved up.
He said that if Red had told me a week later was O.K.,
then it was.
Herb Hochstetter called. He is out of the hospital and feeling
good. He asked if I was ready for a meeting with Lee
Krost about post cereals. I told him that next week will
be better for me. He call Krost and get back to me.
I was concerned about TAKE-A-WORD. Called Phil but got
the "Gamut of Games" answering service. Left word for him
to call me back. He didn't.
To get out of the TAKE-A-WORD dilemma, I thought up a
new game - ADD-A-LETTER. Used 54 letters and a board
with room for 2 - three letter, 2 - four letter, 2 - five letter,
and 1 - six letter word. The tiles are turned face down.
The first played picks two letters. If he can start a word
of any of the lengths he puts them at the left in the spaces
and scores 1 point, as shown on the board. If not he
puts the letters next to the board. From then on players
draw on letter. They can use this and 1 or any letter(s)
on the table to extend a word or start a new one-
