Blocked out the diagrams for AIR BATTLE, WILDCAT, and SWORDSMAN (TOURNEY) but didn't make finished boards.

Worked out a letter arrangement for TAKE-A-WORD on a 8 x 6 layout instead of a 6 x 6. Made a board and a set of letters.

Played with BB and the Sapersteins in the evening. BB and Phylis liked it a lot. I beat Phylis out by 3 points.

always starting with at least two letters. Score for each letter put down, according to the value in the space. Until the word is completed the letters do not have to complete a word, as long as the player has a word in mind, and of course if different letters come up the word can be continually changed.

Rcd. [received] a letter from Rose Wilson of NEO Press. Also a (duplicate) of a "Supplement on POLY-Y."

Called Claude. He said we'll play his new game WHITE ELEPHANTS this Thursday evening. He suggested a NYGA meeting and we agreed on Thurs. [Thursday] Nov. [November] 2 or Fri. [Friday] Nov. [November] 3, probably at Arthur's.

Called Arthur. His house will be fine. He'll check with Wald and get back to me with their choice of the 2 days.

Lil Grand (our neighbor) was cleaning up her house and brought over three game boards instead of throwing them away. SORRY, CLUE, PHILIP MARLOW DETECTIVE GAME. There was a spinner with the latter game and I added it to my set. Looked at it briefly and saw there were cards with circular holes into which secret inserts were placed. I think a good GAME could be worked out on this mechanism. (Put the three boards in the basement.)

Stan now has a very small apartment near 42nd St. (telephone - [telephone number]). He also has an office Stanley Chess [address] I'll drop in when I'm around there and he'll show me the proto-type of the magazine. He has a good relationship with John Scarne. He has a game SCARNE BACCARAT which has been adopted by a number of casinos in the Carribean [Caribbean]. It looks like it will be started in Vegas [Las Vegas]. It is a combination of BACARAT and BLACK JACK (cont. on 10/13)
