Rcd. [received] letter from Don Turnbull. ALBION no. 40 is in the mail. Also he is sending me more repros [reproductions] of the early issues. Apparantly [apparently] Graeme Levin didn't deliver my letter to him. He mentions FEUDAL, PLOY, ACQUIRE, STOCKS AND BONDS, BAZAAR, THE CITIES GAMES, G & P, Graeme Levin, Jim Dunnigan, and Omar DeWitt. Wrote to Don, telling him to hold up with sending things because of our upcoming visit. Told him of letter, AGOG, and NEXT PRESIDENT with Graeme.

Started lining up the games for inclusion in my next S & T col- umn. Come up with the following:- BLOCK 'N SCORE, CHESSWORD, Y & MUDCRACKY & POLY-Y, SQUARE OFF, BEAT DETROIT, EMPEROR OF CHINA, ON-WORDS, MYWORD!, THE BOSS, THE U.S. AUTO CLUB RACING GAME, INTERNATIONAL SKI TEAM RACE, STRATO CHECKERS, NEOCHESS, THE HOWARD HUGHES GAME (if I get it in time), ECCENTRIC (possibly).

In looking at the prices I discovered that I made a mistake in my last S & T column and in the BOOK WORLD column in the list price of STRATO TAC-TICS. I gave the wholesale price - $11.50 rather than the retail - $20.00. Have glossies of CHESSWORD, STRATO CHECKERS, SQUARE OFF, & BEAT DETROIT.

Called Phil Orbanes to get the list price of MYWORD! - $5.95. We discussed the deal with Fred Feucht and M.B. [Milton Bradley] I told him that I thought the chances with M.B. are less bad than with Post, so that it would make more sense to present TAKE-A-WORD to M.B. Phil agreed.

He said that Carl Eisenberg didn't like the name CONNECTIONS. Also he'd prefer the game with an abstract abstract setup instead of the U.S. I'll have to work one out. Phil suggested the name MISSING LINK. Phil thought I could then make a similar railroad game for Fred Feucht, but I said that Fred is not crazy about the railroad theme. I brought up that if "Gamut of Games" ever does AIRLINE we'll be able to include the short version.

Altho [although] Carl likes XANDO and HEXOWORD, Phil was trying to think of a word game set up something like NINE LIVES so that I could use HEXOWORD for Fred Feucht (this was be- fore I brought up TAKE-A-WORD).

Al Richter and I played MYWORD! I nosed him out on the 6- letter word and clobbered him on the 7-letter. Gave him a NO-WAY problem, and then we worked on it to- gether. Then looked at some that I couldn't avoid entering a circle twice. Tried to eliminate the problem by putting more lines at the periphery. Found one that just couldn't be solved, altho we stayed up til 4 working on it. Gave Al my extra copy of MYWORD!.
