2 MONDAY - OCTOBER 1972
276TH DAY - 90 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. [received] a released from Pantheon Books for the British and com- mercial rights to AGOG. Also a nice note from Fabio Coen. Rcd. a letter from Earl Doherty. Asked about the ALBION (altho [although] he didn't know the name) review of CAMPAIGN. Men- tions my review of SPECULATE and 4000 A.D. Asked about CHESSWORD. Rcd. an ad from "Simulations Design Corp." for their maga- zine CONFLICT ($7.98 per year) and their game DUNKERQUE 1940 ($7.98). (Filed in 1972 Misc.)

With BB to Fred Feucht's office. Looked at his artwork WILDCAT, AIR BATTLE, SWORDSMAN (FENCES or TOURNEY), HEXOWORD, CONNECTION, and XANDO .
We discussed how to change the games as follows and I promised to have them by Oct. 16th.
AIR BATTLE - two boards 7" x 10" folded, and two grease pencils.
SWORDSMAN - one board 7" and 10" folded, and two grease pencils
WILDCAT - one board 7" x 10", with holes and pegs.
He'll show these to Marshall Lucas and tell him that I have others in reserve. Among those we discussed: a business game; a word game; possibly a railroad game to use his artwork; a TIC-TAC-TOE expansion.
The artwork for HEXOWORD and XANDO just showed the heads of a man and of a woman with some marks for the game superimposed.

Phil Orbanes called. Made date for Phil, Joel Gaines, and pos- sibly Jed to come here 10/9 at 10 and stay for lunch. Phil told me about his new p & p game, TRACT. There are 5 arrays of different shapes and sizes, but not to diverse in size. 2 (I beleive) play, and take turns placing marks in an array of their choice, and in a straight line. Start with one mark each, then two marks each, thru five marks each. Then go back to one mark, etc. Score for getting most marks in an array. Also certain spaces in the arrays give a bonus.

In CROSSFIRE he intended making the scoring values higher as the spaces moved away from the center. Actually it probably should be the opposite so as to make an incentive for the defensive player to block. He thinks I am right. He has gone to an 11 x 11 field. He is experimenting with putting in some spaces that are "free" to both players, and placed so that they favor the 2nd player. I asked about the Post project and he will call Herb Hoch- stetter. He has three games:- GOLD DIGGERS, ADVANCE, and STEPPING STONES. I have TAKE-A-WORD, POST-HASTE, and BONUS I said I'd have SOLITAIRE DICE and NO WAY ready by 10/9.

Marilyn & Dave were being interviewed for the TV program "To tell the truth." BB and I in there with them but left when (cont. on 10/3)
