Rcd. [received] a released from Pantheon Books for the British and com-
mercial rights to <u>AGOG</u>. Also a nice note from <u>Fabio Coen</u>.
Rcd. a letter from <u>Earl Doherty</u>. Asked about the <u>ALBION</u>
(altho [although] he didn't know the name) review of <u>CAMPAIGN</u>. Men-
tions my review of <u>SPECULATE</u> and <u>4000 A.D.</u> Asked about
<u>CHESSWORD</u>.
Rcd. an ad from "Simulations Design Corp." for their maga-
zine <u>CONFLICT</u> ($7.98 per year) and their game
<u>DUNKERQUE 1940</u> ($7.98). (Filed in 1972 Misc.)
With BB to <u>Fred Feucht</u>'s office. Looked at his artwork
<u>WILDCAT</u>, <u>AIR BATTLE</u>, <u>SWORDSMAN</u> (<u>FENCES</u> or </u>TOURNEY</u>,
<u>HEXOWORD</u>, <u>CONNECTION</u>, and <u>XANDO </u>.
We discussed how to change the games as follows and
promised to have them by Oct. 16th.
<u>AIR BATTLE</u> - two boards 7" x 10" folded, and two grease p[word cut off]
<u>SWORDSMAN</u> - one board 7" and 10" folded, and two grease pencils
<u>WILDCAT</u> - one board 7" x 10", with holes and pegs.
He'll show these to <u>Marshall Lucas</u> and tell him that I have
others in reserve. Among those we discussed: a
business game; a word game; possibly a railroad game
to use his artwork; a <u>TIC-TAC-TOE</u> expansion.
The artwork for <u>HEXOWORD</u> and <u>XANDO</u> just showed the head
of a man and of a woman with some marks for the game
superimposed.
<u>Phil Orbanes</u> called. Made date for Phil, <u>Joel Gaines</u>, and
sibly <u>Jed</u> to come here 10/9 at 10 and stay for lunch.
Phil told me about his new p & p game, <u>TRACT</u>. There are
5 arrays of different shapes and sizes, but not to di[word cut off]
in size. 2 (I beleive) play, and take turns placing ma[word cut off]
in an array of their choice, and in a straight line. St[word cut off]
with one mark each, then two marks each, thru five marks
each. Then go back to one mark, etc. Score for getting [word cut off]
marks in an array. Also certain spaces in the arrays [word cut off]
a bonus.
In <u>CROSSFIRE</u> he intended making the scoring values hi[word cut off]
as the spaces moved away from the center. Actually
probably should be the opposite so as to make an incent[word cut off]
for the defensive player to block. He thinks I am ri[word cut off]
He has gone to an 11 x 11 field. He is experimenting
puttin gin some spaces that are "free" to both players
placed so that they favor the 2nd player.
I asked about the Post project and he will call <u>Herb Hoch-
stetter</u>. He has three games:- <u>GOLD DIGGERS</u>, <u>ADVANCE</u>, and
<u>STEPPING STONES</u>. I have <u>TAKE-A-WORD</u>, <u>POST-NASTE</u>, and <u>BONUS</u>
I said I'd have <u>SOLITAIRE DICE</u> and <u>NO WAY</u> ready by 10/9.
<u>Marilyn & Dave</u> were being interviewed for the TV program
"To tell the truth." BB and I in there with them but left when
