<br>271ST DAY - 95 DAYS TO COME

<s>Called</s> Called <u>Marvin Channing</u>. It looks like they will be dropping the project.
He asked me for a "ball-park figure" of how much they owed me. I said
that the time was 3 weeks - at $10 an hour if they don't take the game.
He seemed to think that was O.K. I'm to call him next Thursday to see
whether I should send the bill, or go on with the changes in
<u>ONE AT A TIME BY THE MILLIONS</u>.
Called <u>Fay Hartog</u>. She connected me to <u>Marcia Murray</u> (Ext. 2704) of the
legal dept. She was busy but called me back later. She said that
since Random House hasn't made any use of the English rights and the
"commerical" rights, it was only right to return them to me (Fabio
apparently had something to do with it) and she'll send me a letter to
that effect.
Rcd. <u>MOVES</u> #4. Article on <u>SOLDIERS</u>; <u>Martin Campion</u>'s
listing of "War Games" and "Peace Games". In peace games in-
cluded - <u>EXTINCTION</u>, <u>NEW TOWN</u>, <u>CHICAGO, CHICAGO</u>,
<u>UP AGAINST THE WALL MOTHER F***ER!</u>, <u>CONFRONTATION</u>, <u>THE CITIES GAME</u>,
<u>BLACKS AND WHITES</u>, <u>SOCIETY TODAY</u>, <u>DRUG ATTACK</u>, <u>THE LIB GAME</u>,
<u>WOMAN AND MAN</u>, <u>LIE, CHEAT, & STEAL</u>, <u>CONVENTION</u>, <u>THE NEXT PRESIDENT</u>,
<u>MR. PRESIDENT</u>, <u>WHO CAN BEAT NIXON?</u>, <u>THE STOCK MARKET GAME</u>,
<u>STOCKS AND BONDS</u>, <u>THE GODFATHER GAME</u>. Article by <u>John Boardman</u>:
mentioned an old election game which I recognized - <u>ELECTION</u>.
Reviewed <u>CONVENTION</u> and <u>THE NEXT PRESIDENT</u>.
To Boston Post Rd. and got repros [reproductions] of the material on <u>STONED</u>.
Also got repros of the three letters <u>Martin Gardner</u>
loaned me on 9/7. One from <u>G.W. Lewthwaite</u> had an unnamed
<u>GAME</u> and one called <u>MEANDER</u> (which can be played with
the <u>AMOEBA</u> equipment). <u>Martin S. Feather</u> sent <u>FEZ</u>, <u>G.G.
Stewart</u> sent an unnamed <u>GAME</u>.
Bought at John's 6 sets of plastic pieces in 4 colors
(total 120 of each color). Sold as a cheap imitation of
<u>DEELIE BOBBERS</u>.
Rcd. [received] call from <u>Fred Feucht</u>. He has a date set up with <u>Marshall
Lucas</u> at the M.B. [Milton Bradley] Showroom for Friday at 10, to show him the
six original p & p games (<u>XANDO</u>, etc.). He asked if I
wanted to be there and I said "yes."
Called <u>Phil Orbanes</u> and told him. <u>Reiss</u> would be very upset
if M.B. took those games. He'll get together with Fred tomorrow
and see what can be worked out.
Phil saw <u>Carl</u> about the contract terms today. They also
discussed the games. They (Hoi Polloi) decided that
<u>GREAT WALL OF CHINA</u> was too confusing. Phil came up with a variation
of <u>BOXES</u> which <s>used</s> uses a map of China as a background.
There is a tessallation [tessellation] of (I believe) hexes, squares, and tri-
angles with light lines defining the pattern (similar to
my previous idea). The'll [They'll] call it <u>CHINESE CHECK</u>.
The other games in the running are <u>SPACE STATIONS</u>
(cont. on 9/26)
