18 MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 1972
YOM KIPPUR - DAY OF ATONEMENT - 262ND DAY - 104 DAYS TO COME
Wrote the rules for the revised version of FUN CITY, and BB typed it.
On radio BB heard a news commentator mention a game pub- lished in England based on the Viet Nam War [Vietnam], GAME.
Dale and Phil returned from Canada. They didn't see much in Can-
ada Montreal or Quebec that looked very different, except
for one GAME in French, costing about $12, that is based on
Mona Lisa and seems to be psychological in theme.
The is a store in (or near) Montreal called "Crazy Eddie's" and owner has been in correspondance [correspondence] with Simulat- ions. He would like to stock all the T.S.G.s Dale and Phil dropped in to see him. He has a very good collection of games, including the 3M Bookshelf, for about $14. He said that ACQUIRE was falling off but (I believe Dale said this) EXECUTIVE DECISION is doing well. Dale said he is a real game nut and would probably like to correspond with me. Dale will start the ball rolling.

captured and removed from the game. Object is to move a chip to touch the opponent's city. (see AGOG in '63.)
Wexler thought he might like the game if circles were put on the board to define the moves. Claude and I suggested hexes and he suggest movable mountains and cities. Wexler would rather have everything on the board. Wald & Arthur will work on it. Wexler wants it as an abstract, rather than a war game. I asked if they would like to see other abstract games but he said they have another and with this one they will have plenty.
He told us of a game he sold to Lakeside called 3-UP. Each
player has 9 pcs. [pieces] that can be stacked. There is a board
with an unlimited number of spaces. Players in turn place a
pc. on the board, either on a pile or in an empty space,
or they can move a pc. from one space to another, the hi
either end of both being a pile or not. The highest a pile
can go is 3. Object is to get a pile of 3 of your own color.
I tried it later and found that the number of spaces had to be limited to - say - 9 and that a move of a single pc. to another empty space has to be prohibited. Even then I am not sure that good playing won't provide a continual piling and unpiling without a result.
Wexler set the next meeting for 10/5 or 10/6. We'll get the final $2000 then a report on the status of all the games. As for submitting new ones, he said that our chances would be better than a cold submittion {submission] to a company but didn't seem to indicate they would be that great.
I asked specifically about CASINO ROYALE and he said to for- (cont. on 9/17)
