17 SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 1972
SIXTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY - 261ST DAY - 105 DAYS TO COME
Playing FUN CITY alone and then with BB. Couldn't get it to work. Then, after a quick visit from Wald Amberstone and his family after the zoo, I suddenly got the idea of moving all factions showing when a [filled in circle] showed. Object to control the Faction that first arrives at "Complete Power" at the end of the track. Played with BB and it was good even two hand.
While watching TV came up with the following letter dis- tribution for a word game, TAKE-A-WORD:- A A A B C D E E E E F G H H I I J K L L M M N N O O P Q R R S S T T T U U V W X Y Z. Made a rough 6 x 6 board and played by myself and with BB. She liked it. 36 of the letters are layed out face up with 6 randomly left out. For younger children Q X Z can be eliminated. Players in turn take off letters in a line to form a word. Do not have to be next to each other or in order. Player can put one or more letters in empty spaces on a line to use them to take off other letters in the line. Players score 1 point for each letter, except for the Q X Z which score 4 each. The player who goes first has a definite advantage - so rounds should be played with each player having the same number of times to go first.

get about it.
Had lunch and went to the Thrift Shops with Claude. The only thing I found of interest was a sliding-block puzzle called PSYCHOTEAZE for $1.
Left Claude and went to Pierce Productions Promotions - Jack David. He gave me a
copy of the new 3M catalog. EXECUTIVE DECISION and SLEUTH
are on the cover, but not ACQUIRE. IMAGE, BID & BLUFF,
NEO-CHESS.
Jack told me about NEO-CHESS. The wrapper has Alex Ran- dolph's name on it. The pieces alone sell for $14, and are light in weight. With a board the price is $20. Jack thinks it is too high. Jack and Audrey also think that POINT OF LAW is definitely not worth the price.
When I told Jack about the WCBS mention of JUMPIN, TWIXIT, and ACQUIRE (see 8/31), he got a transcript. Gave me a repro. [reproduction] Told Jack that I saw one copy of IMAGE in Brentano's. They need a copy for some magazines and haven't gotten any. He'll try to buy the copy in Brentano's. I'll get copies of the three UPW games as soon as he has them. Actually he had two copies of BID & BLUFF but I wasn't in hurry to get it. In the big Doubleday's at 57th St. they had a copy of AGOG in the window. Price about $3.
Rcd. [received] Sept. [September] PLAYTHINGS. Had ad for and [an] article on KLOMP-IT. Mentioned Wally Siegel and that new games will be coming out in 1973 (cont. on 9/16)
