<u>Graeme</u> wants me to write a monthly column - about 1000
words, with diagrams (see the <u>GO</u> column). I can be free to
write whatever I want, but he wants 3 completed articles
and a synopsis of some 10 more so that he can schedule the
magazine to avoid issues being unbalanced. He likes the idea
of my doing original games and forgotten games. He would particu-
larly like pencil and paper games and checkerboard games. I
mentioned <u>REVERSI</u> and he liked that. Original card games
(such as <u>OPEN BRIDGE</u>) are O.K., but <u>Michael Dummett</u> will be
doing a series on card games.
Altho his usual contract is that all material published belongs
to him, he is willing to give me permission to republish my col-
lected columns in book form.
Aside from a column he would like me to do a 2 page spread
(about 1800 words) on <u>ACQUIRE</u> which is being introduced in U.K.
It sells for about $19.00 [14.00?], which he thinks will severely limit sales.
Some book publishers have approached him for books on games
and he thinks he can definitely interest them in <u>''AGOG''</u>. I brought
up the question of agent's fees and he said that one of the
publishers - the one with the best prospects - was talking about
7 1/2% royalties. He thinks he can do better, but as incentive he
suggested 10% agent's fee up to 7 1/2% and 33 1/3% <s>over</s> for anything
over 7 1/2%. O.K.
He has also been approached by some game manufacturers.
If I give him some of mine to try and sell he will act as <br>
