----
Rcd. [received] a letter from Frank Armbruster. Asked if anything
like AUTOBRIDGE had ever been done for CHESS. He still
doesn't have an answer from the V.P. about Santa Clara taking
over my collection. Sent a pamphlet listing courses,
including his on games.
Thought up a game I <s>call</s> later called POST-HASTE.
The board is as shown. [drawing of a board. There is empty space in the inside of the board that is in the shape of a U, the board is made of rectangles in a line around the edge of the U. The rectangles are in colors green, yellow, red, and blue. The colors are not in a particular pattern] Moves are moved in
accordance with the number of pcs. [pieces] on that
color at the time of the move.
Played with BB, Barbara, Dave, and Susy Horn.
I sat out one game and Barbara the second.
Rules:- A black barrier is set between any two
boxes, the arrow setting the direction of play. When
four play each player has 3 pcs. of a color matching one of
the colors on the board. They are placed in the first 3 spaces
leading from the arrow barrier. Choose for first in any convenient
manner. A player in his turn moves any of his pieces. The length
of move is determined by the number of pcs., friendly or
enemy, that are on boxes of that color the time of the move. If
no pcs. are on boxes of that color the player moves each of his
pcs. the number of boxes equal to the number of pcs. he has in
the race at that time. When a pc. goes over the barrier
its position still counts in determining a move. First to get
his pcs. over the barrier wins.
When 2 play each plays two colors of 3 pcs. each. On a turn
can choose the one he wishes to play. When 3 play each has
4 pcs.
