Called Martin Gardner about ARROW LIFE. He was interested
in it, but
in it, but probably won't be doing another column on the
subject of LIFE for some time since he already did two.
He'll send a copy to the publisher of ''LIFELINE'' magazine.
Martin happened to mention that he had just sent in a column
on cube dissection puzzles other than SOMA, incliding
one, called THE DIABOLICAL CUBE, which he found in an
old puzzle book. It has 6 pieces - a 2 cube, 3 cube, 4 cube, 5 cube,
6 cube, and 7 cube. Conway, who was visiting Martin went thru
the possibilities in about 10 minutes and discovered that
there were only a few (I don't remember how many) solutions.
I mentioned Jerry D'Arcey's IMPUZZABLES, and he would
like to mention them. Told him that I'd get a set for
him and then we'll get together and he'll see them and
ARROW LIFE. He is not sure that he will be able to add them
to the already prepared column, but if he can't he will be able
in the next month.
Called Padilla, Sarjeant, Sullivan, & Spear. Tom Nelson is now working
in Minneapolis. Also they no longer handle Lakeside.

Called Eve Auchicloss at ''WASHINGTON POST'' office. Not in.
Supposed to call back but didn't.

Claude called. He is working on a game to show Friday that he
calls INSTANT DIPLOMA. Players get various "licenses" to steal,
