27 THURSDAY - APRIL 1972
118TH DAY - 248 DAYS TO COME

Ordered the following two books (and a cookbook and 10 records)
from "Publisher's Central Bureau" : - MATHEMATICAL DIVERSIONS,
ILLUSTRATED GAMES OF PATIENCE.

Joan Silbert called. I'll go there next Tuesday about 12 to 12:30.

Felicia called to get Al Richter's phone number. She wanted to cancel
a date with him for today.
Yesterday she told me about a new client, Bradford E. Bailey
who came to her thru M.B. They think highly of him. He
is bringing a number of his games to her next Tuesday
at 10:30 and she'd like me to meet him. Told her I'd be
there.
Bailey has something at Hallmark and Felicia confirmed
from Jim Goldsberry that an option is coming
for it. The name SECRET SYNTHESIS - a puzzle game.

Bob Hallowell called. He was very enthused about an idea
for a TV game show that Fred Gwynne (who came up with
HEAD TENNIS) thought of. Some notes on it - Sit
down panel; Introduce suspense; Object to identify sounds;
Audience hears sounds and later sees visual; Some sounds
live and some on tape; Some for quick identification with
a buzzer, others to choose from a number of possibilities.
They want me in work up the game angle. TV GAME.
Bob had Fred Gwynne call me and talk about it. Actually
he was less enthused than Bob. We'll get together to
brain-storm the idea. He'll talk to Bob about a time
and one of them will call me.
Gwynne would like for the three of us to keep control
of the game show as long as possible, or even always.
In my talk with Hallowell he said that they had refiled
with the SEC for their stock issue due to a goof by the
underwriters in the original offering. He is still not
sure what the outcome will be. If he doesn't raise the money
he said, he will place the p. & p. games (XANDO, etc )
with someone else with no charge to me.
He'd like 6 solitaire GAMEs, with 1 or 2 extra
for choice, by the middle of July.

Thinking of, and playing around with p. & p. solitaire games.
Tried out CONTOURS. The objective that all squares be
connected by squares that are either the same number
or next to each other in consecutive numbers, seems
too easy. Disallowing all connections between squares of
the same number is almost impossible. Tried the game
limiting connections between the same numbers to one of each
number, with 6 spaces for recording these. With a lot of
1s or 6s this still won't work. Another idea is to allow a
set number, such as 10 or possibly 15, of the same number
(cont. on 4/15)
