10 MONDAY - APRIL 1972
101ST DAY - 265 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a package from Simulations Publications with a
new TSG THE BATTLE OF STALINGRAD, S & T #30,
a copy of MOVES #1, S & T GUIDE #2, and a copy of
a new catalog with incorrect colation. (Discarded.)
Claude called about date for Thursday. Nothing specifically
about games.
Rcd. a call fro John Wilkerson of Harwell Associates. We
discussed getting the NEW TOWN board back to him. I
suggested my dropping it at G. & R. and he thought that a
good idea. Told him I'd do it Wednesday.
He asked me to dis[play the game with the old board and I
said I would. He'll send me an old board and also the
new set when it is ready. There are some simplifications
in the rules and the price will be dropped.
He said that Nan Bimblick, of G. & R., said that I am a
game inventor. When his company gets more established
he'd like to look at some of my things.
Rcd. a long distance call from Tom Patchett who got my number
from Frank Armbruster. Tom is the inventor of
THE OFFICIAL DEALER MCDOPE DEALING GAME. (Frank Armbruster
has sent me a copy) and is interested in an agent. I
suggested Tom Atwater and gave Patchett his address.
The game is put out in California but Patchett is interested
in finding a nationwide company.
Patchett is working on a game WIPE OUT and a GAME
based on Howard Hughes, which Frank will agent for him
(??). I mentioned ECCENTRIC and Patchett said that it
might be by Gini Scott. She was working on a Howard Hughes game.
Patchett, incidentally, recently joined
THE AMERICAN GAMES ASSOCIATION.
I took his address:
{Tom Patchett
{1843 Spruce St.
{Berkeley, Cal. 94709
If I don't receive the game Frank sent, I'll write
and Tom will send me another.
Incidentally, WIPE OUT is based on nuclear war.
I told him that his name and game sounded familiar.
Later found that I had a clipping on DEALER MCDOPE DEALING GAME.
(See 2/3.)
Started writing up 4000 A.D. for S & T. Saw I couldn't
finish it today and have it typed. Called Mark Katz and
changed date from tomorrow to Wednesday.
While writing up 4000 A.D.. I thought of a p & p version of
getting 4 in a row on a 4 x 4 x 4 field. The levels can
be represented by circles of different sizes place[d] in
a row - see illustration.
