copy of ACQUIRE but can't afford the price. Wald wondered if
I could get copies wholesale. Told him that I couldn't
but that I would check whether I had an old set I could
let him have, as soon as I get a free moment.
I asked him whether it would be O.K. to send Arthur's address
to someone who was interested in POWER. Sure.

Al & Adela Richter here for a short visit (baby sitter
called that Laura was sick).
We played a little of a new GAME Al was fooling around with.

[Diagram of a 7 x 7 square grid board. Two spaces in the center column are marked with three stars [***] (rows second from top and second from bottom). The space in the center row of the far left column is marked with two stars [**].]

Each player has a given number of
checkers (18, I think). They are
started one at a time in the players
nearest row and then immediately
moved forward (which just eliminates the outside
rows and Al will change this).
Plain piecesmove one space in any orthogonal
direction. Captures are by replacement.
When a piece lands on the **
space it gets a 2nd pc. placed on it and
adds a one space diagonal move. When
a piece (or is it only a 2-high) lands
on an opposite *** it is made 3 high. It can then move two spaces in
any direction (or is it only orthogonal). Didn't work very well.
