10 FRIDAY - MARCH 1972
70TH DAY - 296 DAYS TO COME
Finished the Xerox drawings, including a sheet of notes.
Felicia called. She checked with Hallmark about the missing board
for CHECKPOINT and they offered $15.
To Ridgewood in N.J. Dropped off the income tax information
at Leonard Willett's.
To Exhibition Management and gave the drawings to Bernie Lane.
He was afraid that Xerox would complain about the
work, particularly about BEAN BAG TARGET and I reminded
him that I had said there would be a lot of work in that
one and he had said that it was up to Xerox.
He may have BB contract to make up the bean bags.
He made repros [reproductions] of the drawings and we marked up a
set with painting notes. I took home another set to
check same time next week.
Felicia called while I was out and left a message with Dale.
Hallmark found the CHECKPOINT board. They also said they were
sending the contracts and checks for PLANES tonight.
Packages came from A.H. [Avalon Hill] - ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II and
GETTYSBURG - and from Urban Systems - ECOLOGY and THE GODFATHER GAME
which is now packed in a regular box instead of the violin case.
Claude and Anne, and Maryellen with her husband Lloyd here for
supper. Claude brought me a little book translated from the
French, 300 NEW GAMES AND AMUSEMENTS. Also a clipping from
LONG ISLAND PRESS (2/23) about GLOBAL CHESS, also called
SPHERICAL CHESS and INFINITE CHESS. It mentions two other games
by Peter Yaspan - COLORABLE (a SCRABBLE version using colors
instead of words) and THREE-DIMENSIONAL SPHERICAL TIC-TAC-TOE.
(Filed in '72 Misc. [1972 Miscellaneous])
Lloyd was able to do NINE OF SWORDS after I gave him an the
letter and visual hints. Maryellen worked on SKYSCRAPERS
but wasn't able to do it. Claude didn't bring a copy of
GENIUS BLOCKS and I brought out the set he once gave me.
Phil & Dale worked on it without success.
I gace Lloyd a Castle copy of AGOG and one to Claude, who
said he wanted one that he'd feel free to mark up.
Earl Perel called while they were here. He said he wanted
to send President Nixon a copy of THE AMERICAN WAY, since
it was based on the play of the Chinese GO. He asked if
he could mention my name. I said O.K., although I couldn't
see what good it would do.
Then Earl spoke to Claude for a while.
In meeting with Bernie Lane he mentioned that there would be a
TV program on April 19th. Imay go up on the 18th and come
(cont. on 3/11)
