29 TUESDAY - FEBRUARY 1972
60TH DAY - 306 DAYS TO COME

Felicia called before I left. She can't locate the board for TORTS - THE GAME OF LAWSUITS. She asked if I would recognize it. Yes. I'll try to drop in at noon tomorrow. Joyce Swayze will be there and Felicia (or rather I.S.) will get us lunch.
Yesterday Lillian Voegelin wanted to show AIRLINE to Bill Dohrmann. At first he didn't want to look at it but, after Lillian said it was mine, he did. After a moment he said they were working on something similar and wouldn't look at it further.
I told Felicia about TORUS' similarity to SKYSCRAPERS. She agreed that I should tell Bill Dohrmann about it.

To International Toy Show at New York Hilton. Very few games. Spears : - In same format as QUANDARY and TOT-TEN had a new one MATCH AND MOVE. Each player has four pcs. [pieces] (either same color four different shapes, or same shape four different colors - can't remember which). These are started in the outside rows. In the center 6 x 6 section each square is marked with a shape and color in different combinations. The outer rows are also marked with shapes and colors which, I believe, tie down the starting spaces for the pcs.

[Diagram of a 6 x 6 game board that has an additional row/ column of four centered around all four edges. 52 spaces in total.]

A pc. moves like a CHESS king, but only to a space with matching color or shape. Object is to get 4 across first.
House of Games - Waddington : - Met Alfons Rubbens who was a little bit apologetic about the problem over getting back FREE FORM last year. Earl Dough Doherty of GAMEWAYS (see 1971) is now his partner and they develop their own games.
4000 A.D. - gave me a copy for review in S & T.
CHESSWORD - Copied info. [information] but Rubbens is supposed to send me one for review.
SPECULATE - (This was developed at Waddington and was invented by someone from South Africa). Copied some of the info. but Rubbens is supposed to send a review copy.
Rubbens was interested in the possibility of Simulations, Inc. selling 4000 A.D. mail order and i gave him Jim Dunnigan's number. Also told him about BOOK WORLD and he took Tincher's number. Also gave him a copy of S & T, #30 I think, and the BOOK WORLD with my column.
Told him about Xerox and he'd like to be in it. He'll call me before April 20th about coming to see it. In addition to the review copies, he will send me 4000 A.D. and CHESSWORD. I didn't think that SPECULATE would be visual enough.
Picked up a folder for SPIN & SPELL - children's but nice equip't. [equipment] (Filed in '72 Misc. [1972 miscellaneous]) When I got home Felicia called. Anthony Longo of S. & R. [Selchow and Righter] sicced a nut on her. He has a GAME for which he wants $250,000. Longo tried to get Felicia to tell him who in 3M is in charge. Just in case he might call me, she doesn't want me to mention any names.
