54TH DAY - 312 DAYS TO COME

To Felicia's. Bill Dohrmann there. Showed him SKYSCRAPERS.
He thought that could be the followup to INSTANT INSANITY.
DIALEMMA - I wasn't able to get the idea across to him.
WILD WOOD PILE - he thought it O.K., but not exciting.
LOTTERY - liked the theme and the chances for dealing.
SPELLBINDER - Felicia thought of showing this. He didn't look
at it but said that they are definitely interested in adding a
card word game to PROBE and SPILL AND SPELL.
I'm to call him Monday to set up a date to bring him
SKYSCRAPERS, LOTTERY, and SPELLBINDER. Also my changes in
MASTERPIECE.
In connection with SPELLBINDER, he mentioned that Parker had
tried to get permission to use the name SPELLBOUND, without success.
I told him that I was familiar with the game, but thought that
the two names were enough different.
Felicia showed him I SENTENCE U. There is a gadget with
20 openings behind each of which there is a strip with the
26 letters. Black separators can be moved down to divide
the 20 spaces into words. Players in turn throw a die and
set up a word of that length. The sentence formed must
make grammatical sense. When three or less spaces are left
the die is not shaken again. The players score for the
letters they use in their words; there are three levels
according to the frequency 1 point (E, etc.), 3 points (B, etc.),
5 points (Z, etc.). (Not sure about the point values.) [Fairly complete
idea.] Dohrmann didn't care for it.
Felicia showed Claude's ECLIPSE. Dohrmann said that there was no
skill involved, just trial and error. I said like PHONY BALONEY.
Felicia showed him AVARICE and TRIAD very quickly. He'll come back
to look at those and others, since he hadn't counted on seeing that
so many things.
Felicia showed me Al Richter's new rules for TRY-ANGLES but I
didn't get a chance to do more than just glance at them.
After Bill left Felicia bought me lunch but we both agreed that
I shouldn't be paid for coming in. I offered to come in for her next
meeting with Bill but she said she was at ease with him now.
We agreed that I would write the rules for DIALEMMA tonight
and bring it to her tomorrow so that she could show it. Possibly
to Samsonite. I left WILD WOOD PILE with her.

To Skunk Works. Got a letter to use for registering at Toy Fair.
Spoke to Red & Jim. End of March is O.K. for my column. It
can run over a page, but Red may cut out a game or two to
use in next issue.
Spoke to Phil Orbanes. He is trying to arrange a meeting
with Bill Knox about GROOVE, HOLEY TERROR, HABITAT, etc.
I asked him about Carl Eisenberg at Hoi Polloi. He is having
a lot of trouble getting wood suppliers at a price that they
can live with.
