Instead played until at least one section in each row and column was
completed. The only problem was that doubling the 5 point
intersection section practically assured the game. Later thought
of the following. Make the selected row worth 2, the
selected column worth 3, and the intersection 5. Completing any
section gives a bonus of 2 spaces.

<u>Keith</u>'s wife died - soon after his father. <br>
<u>Frank</u> showed me something on his <u>CONTIGO</u>. His original game
(which he promised to send as soon as he gets home - tho I
said rules would be fine) used an 8 x 8 grid. Around the grid
are a series of pockets, one next to the ends of each row
& column and also one at each corner (36 total). In each pocket
2 seeds are placed. On the playing grid each player has
pcs. [pieces] In a turn a player "sows" seeds from one pocket on
the edge. Instead of "sowing" one pocket at a time the player
can place seeds in any pocket or pockets in the range that
would be reached by single "sowing", including leaving some in
the original pocket. Then the player moves a piece in an
orthogonal direction. The length of the move is the number
of seeds in the pocket approached. There are different
objectives, such as elimination and alignment, forming
different games. For 3M's Bookshelf packaging Frank has cut the
central grid to 6 x 6, which he says is probably better. <br>
Frank is also thinking of a variation in which there
are pockets in the pieces. The number of seeds in a
player's piece determines its move. <br>
Frank showed me his <u>STACTICS</u>. (Not sure if I have everything
correct but it is pretty much as follows: There are 30 cubes,
6 each of those | |||
shown. | |||
[Diagram of five different 'nets' of cubes. One has 6 shapes within. Three have 4 shapes within. One has zero shapes within. The shapes are squares, diamonds, and circles.]
Each group | |||
has a different color. | |||
There is a die with the 5 colors on 5 sides and "choice"
on the 6th. Each player takes one of the symbols (2 or
3 players). They throw the die and take a cube of the
corresponding color. This is placed into a 3 x 3 arrangement. After
9 are placed each player scores for rows on the top : - 3 of his
symbol - 3 points. 2 of his symbol with a blank - 2 points.
1 of his symbol with 2 blanks - 1 point. Continue with a 2nd
level and score. Then a third level. After the top of <br>
