12 WEDNESDAY - JANUARY 1972
12TH DAY - 354 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. [received] a letter from Andrew N. McLaren, an AGOG reader. He sent
me rules for CIRCULAR TIC-TAC-TOE. I checked and in 1964
game diary found it in a commercial version by Child Guidance.

Rcd. a letter from Haar Hoolim. He misunderstood VECTOR.
Sent a variation of THE THREE MUSKETEERS. Sent an ad for
another "Orda" game. - LET ME THINK "Arithmetic game for all
ages."
He says that all he wants is a short answer from me.

Called Bernie Lane. The Xerox exhibit is being moved up. A
craft show moves out on March 13th. Ay first Bernie figured
that the Press Party for the opening of our show would be
on April 6th but he got a call from Razor (?) of Xerox. When
he call me back he said it probably would be March 20th,
due to Razor's vacation. Bernie would like me to get started
as soon as possible. Said I'd try to get sketches to them
early in February.
I told Bernie that I still hadn't rcd. any official notification.
He asked what the terms were that we agreed upon. I said $500
plus $100 for one day (or overnight - they paying expenses) at
Rochester. He said tha I would be getting a letter, either from
Xerox or from them in Xerox' name.

Called Bob Hallowell. He was interested in how I was doing
with the p. and p. games. Told him I had about 10 ideas
pretty well worked out, including DRILL FOR OIL, AIR BATTLE, and
X AND O. He asked if I agreed to use FICTIONARY GAME, and
I said sure, as long as he wants it.
I'll go there probably next Friday. Call Thursday first.
Asked about FUN CITY. The buyer (?) for Sears and Roebuck
has been changed. Reiss will see the new one shortly. He will
bring the hand made sample which is not as good looking as
the final printed product, but still good looking.
I asked about NINE OF SWORDS. He is sending a check for around
$800 to Phil Orbanes. This covers (I understand) the period
of Sept., Oct., and Nov. '71.

Called Fay Hartog to ask about the AGOG reprint and the
advance and 125 books for me. She said it really wasn't their
problem and I told her of my visit to Miriam Norton yesterday.
She then told me that Tom Lowry was the one in charge of
subsiduary rights, and she transferred me to him. He also said that it
was Fabio's responsibility and I said Fay transferred me. He
laughed and said they're all lazy, but he'll look into it.
Fay called me back a little later to say that I would get an
advance of $250, but it would come with my summer royalty
report. However she found out that I was getting $1200 for my
upcoming royalty. I said I was amazed since I was be-
