4TH DAY - 362 DAYS TO COME
Called Pierce Promotions. Jack busy and spoke to Jan. She wanted me to send in the BOOK WORLD article or to bring it in tomorrow. I wanted to check with Jack about seeing his clippings and asked to have him call me tomorrow.
Wrote to Lou Zocchi - ACQUIRE and agent; Don Miller with
$2 for dues and suggest mention that I could get some Bookshelf
games for him; Phil Cohen that I hadn't rcd. [received] the book he said he was
sending CHALLENGE AND DELIGHT OF CHESSICAL AND DECIMAL.
Call from Claude. Wanted to get together this Thurs. [Thursday] at Earl's.
Told him I couldn't make it. Maybe next week.
He is working on the "Knowledge" game for 3M, but his ideas so
far seem like an ordinary quiz game.
He talked some more about his new ideas for UPSTAGE (didn't
record them when he mentioned them last time). He has
4 special "Award Squares" on each side. Players must win
a game with a piece in each of the 4 awards, usually
one per game, but 2 in a game are possible.
A player's first pc. [piece] must be placed in an award square.
None of the award squares are in line with each other.
In my talk with Claude spoke a little about FOREIGN INTRIGUE.
Mentioned that the 4-hand might not be as good as the others.
Later thought of a variation for 4, or for 5, in which each
player takes two identities. For simplicity he wears only
one letter card - A would also take B, B would also take C, etc.
The lower numbered identity would belong to the first letter.
The player giving the assignment, or issuing the challenge, would
choose the identity to which it was directed.
A player can have one identity discovered but can continue with
the other. At the end the player with the most identity cards,
including his own, wins. In case of a tie the player remaining
at the end of the game wins if he is among the tyers.
In case of another tie, it is not broken. (This is good
to use for any number of players.) Another possibility. If two players
tie and one has the other's identity card, he is the winner.
