<u>Red</u> showed me a game <u>QUEBEC 1759</u> which they may sell
thru ''<u>S & T</u>''. Made copies of the complete info.  <br>
thru ''<u>S & T</u>'' [Strategy & Tactics]. Made copies of the complete info.
Spoke to <u>John Boardman</u> who did
Spoke to <u>John Boardman</u> who did the article in ''<u>MOVES</u>'' #4
which mentioned <u>ELECTION</u> (not by name). We reminisced about
it. When I get a little free time he'll come here for a
visit.

He told me about a series of books by <u>Joseph Needham</u>
called ''<u>SCIENCE & CIVILIZATION IN CHINA</u>'' (Cambridge University Press?).
Vol. 3 - "Astronomy" discusses Chinese games developing out of
divination and is very complete on Chinese games.  <br>
Spoke to <u>Phil Orbanes</u>, going out to the park to speak freely.
<s>Phil Orbanes called</s> He spoke to <u>Fred Feucht</u> today and Fred
understood our difficulties. If I can come up with games
other than pencil and paper to fit his artwork there would
be just as much chance to interest MB [Milton Bradley] in them. Some suggestions -
pegs, vinyl on vinyl, grease pencil on vinyl.  <br>
<u>Marshall Lucas</u> has a lot of other business in town so there
won't be any hard feelings because of Fred calling off the
date tomorrow.  <br>
<s>Phil and I discussed the games for Reiss</s> I told him about
<u>NO WAY</u>, but not the details.  <br>
He gave me the [illegible crossed out] rules for his <u>PLOT</u>;
<u>FRIDAY THE 13TH</u>, <u>NINE LIVES</u>, <u>WORDS FOR THE WISE</u>;
<u>COUNTERPOINT</u>; and the diagrams, without the rules, of
<u>CROSSFIRE</u> (<u>HEX</u>). To prove that the player who goes
first has a big edge we played a game. I then suggested
having two games on a sheet and having numbers
in the goal spaces. The winning player scores the
product of the two ends of his chain.  <br>
At Simulations I ran off rules for <u>CONNECTIONS</u>,
<u>HEXOWORD</u>, <u>XANDO</u>, <u>AIR BATTLE</u>, <u>DRILL FOR OIL</u>. Also playing sheets.
Gave these to Phil. He doubts if he will even show <u>AIR BATTLE</u>
and <u>DRILL FOR OIL</u> to <u>Carl</u>, just the other three.  <br>

players are often fighting bankruptcy, but feels it is
a valid element).  <br>
<u>Graeme</u> has so far made up 4 games and 3
have been accepted <u>SPECULATE</u> and the other two
that are to come out. I told him his average is astounding.  <br>
He asked if he could put a new introduction to my game.
<u>COMBINATION</u> and run it. I said of course and I'd accept
a minimum payment , or none at all. He said that he
wants to pay for everything. Up to of 20 will be kept by him
to <s>send</s> defray the cost of material he sends me.  <br>
Told him we probably will be in London in a month
or two. He invited us for supper and offered to have
<u>Don Turnbull</u> down, to save me a trip to Cambridge.  <br>
