Called Felicia. She has been in conversation with Harvey Gardner. He is very strongly for AGOG but the board is still not sure. He should give me word about the hard cover reprint by the end of today.

I told Felicia about the letter from Jim Goldsberry concerning OPEN BRIDGE. Felicia said that Jim will certainly not mind if I write again and will be happy to admit he was wrong if I can convince him. I'll pick up the model of OPEN BRIDGE and bring Felicia the new one of WILD WOOD PILE early next week.

Called Pete Swift to tell him how attractive the model of EL TABLERO DE JESUS was. Pete went to Bob Reiss with it and also met Phil Orbanes. They liked it but felt that the necessary retail price ($14 to $15) was too high for them to handle. Phil suggested a $5 version using a box with the board printed on top. Pete will think about it after he works on this model. Brentano's will take some on consignment in September. I suggested some other stores and the possibility of sending one to Stephen Sondheim (who wrote the music & lyrics for Company and Follies).

Phil Orbanes called while I was out and I called back. Someone submitted a PUZZLE to them which consisted of a rigid box without top or bottom (4 sides only). There are creases at various points and by properly using them the box can be turned inside out. Phil asked if it is original. Told him that I had never seen it, but that I am not up on all puzzles. He'll check in some books on topology in the library.

SPACE STIX has been costed. The 40 stix can be printed and die cut from 1/8" plywood for 68(cents mark). He thinks it will cost out O.K. NINE OF SWORDS is doing well in mail order but not in the stores Phil is pretty sure that at least 10,000 will be sold this year. MANHATTAN MADNESS still presents problems but Phil thinks they will be solved. Bob Reiss felt that TORTURE TOWER is too competative to both QUINTESSENCE and DAFFY DOTS. Carl wants me to call him about other ideas. I mentioned EL TABLERO DE JESUS and Phil said he felt that Pete Swift was more interested in an ego trip than in making a profit. I filled Phil in on my share in the gam. (not the actual percentage.)

Made up a rough model of the PUZZLE of 6/29 and 9/23/70. It is certainly hard enough. I'll present it to Carl.

Started working on a 3-D model of WILD WOOD PILE. Making round logs will be too difficult. I'll have to make them square.
