Thursday 15 July 1971
St. Swithin's Day 196th day - 169 days to come
Rcd. the following photocopies together with a note from Herb Siegel:- THE GAME OF PANIC, THE GAME OF RADIO, WORTHWILE, GAME OF SPECULATION, DERBY DAY, THE GAME OF ZUM, CAMOUFLAGE, ALLEGRANDO, MUSICAL DOMINOES, CATS AND MICE, GANTLOPE, LOST DIAMOND, OORLOG, THE GAME OF POLITICS, TRIX (2 copies).
Rcd. a letter from Mary Lou Thomas of Pantheon. Since they
just signed a contract for a hardcover reprint of AGOG
they cannot return rights to me.
Called Fabio but he was tied up. Spoke to Fay Hertog and she is
sure that the contract isn't valid until I sign a release.
Rcd. an invoice [crossout] from Molded Products that they were sending me a copy of TIC TAC THREE.
To Harvey Gardner of Gold Medal Books. Brought him a copy of
AGOG. He looked through it and we discussed it. He said that if
it was up to him it would be definite, but there are others that
have to agree.
Told him about the interest in the review section and that
I'd have to rewrite it. Also that at 75¢ or 95¢ (the price range
he mentioned) some buyers might buy succeeding editions.
Mentioned Castle Books and brought up Fabio's suggestion
that both a handcover and a paperback could be out at the same
time. He didn't see any objection but it is not only up to him.
Told him about the 20 day period for giving Pantheon an answer
and he said he'd give me one by the end of the month.
