Tried out the idea for hexes in COLORAMA. Seems to be even better. (Used hex graph paper.) For a possibly simpler score:- In each color the player scores the product of his biggest group times the smallest group. The player with the largest group of a color multiplies the product by the number of players. The next highest by one less than number of players, etc. A player who has all of the squares of a color in one group squares the number in this group. In addition each player multiplies his maximum largest color group by his minimum largest color group; and player with single largest group multiplies this by number of players, etc. When four play, a variation can be played with all playing in a configuration. The four largest groups of each player's color (each player having his own color) are written in order and compared separately. Largest in each grouping multiplies number in group by number of players, etc.

Worked out an arrangement for THE 19TH HEX (see 8/21/70) which assures a single solution.

For my PUZZLE idea of 9/23/70 think that the arrangement of cutouts shown will be attractive and easy to follow. [sketch of yellow square, with smaller green square on top, with turned blue square on top, with red circle in center]

Rcd. a form letter from Phil Orbanes announcing that the treasurer resigned from Infinity-Quest and that his wife will become treasurer. Also a personal letter that Jack Keller is in town and would like to see my game col- lection. Noticed that I am not listed as a director, while Jim Dunnigan is not.

Felicia called. She finally rcd. a letter from Jim Kraus. He has played PLANES, likes it, and wants to play more. Now the problem is costing and the answer on this should come in about 60 days. Felicia has been trying to get 3M to tell her who to send the revised WILD WOOD PILE to. I told her that I still had to write to Jim Kraus about BAZAAR and that I would ask him in the same letter. Also will suggest PLANES for "Book- shelf" rather than the "Gamette" that Jim originally had in mind. (Will send a carbon to Felicia.) Claude had called her about getting together. She didn't get a chance to call back and asked me, if I spoke to him, to tell him that any day next week, except Monday, will be O.K. with her. Alfons Rubbens still hasn't sent back FREE FORM, TRY-ANGLES and the other material he took from Felicia. (cont. on 6/12)
