Letter from <u>Tom Atwater</u> thanking me for fee from
<u>TRANSFORMATION</u>. He enclosed a copy of a letter from
<u>Otto Maier</u> discussing my rewriting the rules for their
<u>SEXTETT</u> (see 1970). Wrote to Tom saying I'd be willing
to do it, if they send me a copy with the English and Ger-
man rules. Enclosed check for $25 for <u>AIRLINE</u>. Also
told him of its being postponed till next year.
Finished copying the rules and other material for
<u>REVOLUTION AND COUNTERREVOLUTION</u>.
<u>Felicia</u> called. I forgot to bring her the copy of <u>FOCUS</u> for
her to send to <u>Mary Hilt</u>. She asked if I'd send it out
and I said I would.
I asked her about <u>WILD WOOD PILE</u>. She is still trying to find out
to whom to send it to at 3M. <u>Lou Zeller</u> never answers
any letters and she doesn't want it to end up with <u>Cathy
Brooks</u>. <u>Jim Kraus</u>, who usually is very good at answering,
also has stopped writing. If someone from M.B. comes looking
she will show it to him.
Called <u>Mickey Mackay</u>. <u>SUMMIT</u>, <u>WORDWISE</u>, and <u>GROUP</u> are
not out yet. She will get me copies as soon as they are
out. In the meantime she will put aside a copy of
<u>CHECKERED GAME OF LIFE</u> and <u>STRATEGY POKER</u> for me to pick
up sometime when I am in the neighborhood. (Forgot to
ask her for <u>STAY ALIVE</u>.)
When I mentioned her coming here for a visit she mentioned
that <u>Mike Alber </u>enjoyed his visit. We discussed <u>MASTERPIECE</u>
and her opinion was the same as mine. I told her that
I could make a good game of it and she suggested that I
send my ideas to Parker. Then, when I mentioned that it
was a <u>Marvin Glass</u> game, she said that he doesn't allow
any changes. She also remembered that when she heard
that M.B. had turned down the game she was angry. But
now she knows why they did.
She still thinks I should do a column. As soon as I get caught
up we'll get together for lunch.
I said I'd probably include <u>SUMMIT</u> in my <u>''BOOK WORLD''</u> column,
if they want me to do one again. Somehow I mentioned
that M.B. has some good game men in their development dept.
She will try to interest <u>''BOOK WORLD''</u> in doing an article on
development men in different companies. If she can do it di-
plomatically, she'll suggest me to do the writing. She'll
let me know how it comes out.
