TUESDAY 15 JUNE 1971 166th day - 199 days to come

Wrote the rules for X-CHANGE-WORD and a note to add to the OPEN BRIDGE rules. BB typed them.

To Felicia's in time to see Richard Altabef and look at his game REVOLUTION AND COUNTERREVOLUTION. It seemed to have some interesting ideas. Arranged for me to hold the game - which is all in a manilla envelope - look at it, call Richard, and then mail it back to him. One point that wasn't covered was what to do if two players were tied for top in one "locus." He'll think about it. I also suggested that the game be made for up to 6 players. He can do this by [crossed out] either adding a 5 and 6 player column to the "Stress Factor" table or, which I told him was preferable, changing calculation of the Factor so that only the 2nd position in each "locus" is counted - making only one column necessary. His intention is to use pins to keep record of positions on the board. By using different colored heads the separ- ate columns for each player are no longer necessary. I suggested making each "locus" narrower but extending across the full length of a board, so that the spaces are larger. Felicia loved X-CHANGE-WORD. Just looked a little at OPEN BRIDGE. Packed them for shipment to Hallmark. Returned the material on HOUSE OF GAMES to Felicia. (Inci- dentally, this has now become primarily a CHESS house.) Gave her 3 sets of the new EXECUTIVE DECISION rules. She already rcd. one from Keith Tuggle (or at least she thinks she did.) She asked if I had heard from Mary Hilt. I told her only that AIRLINE was being postponed a year. She asked about an advance and I told her $250. Took back CINEMA and GENIUS BLOCKS. She said that no one likes Claude's I PACK MY TRUNK and that she'd like him to take it back. Allan Turoff took back his TWELVE CIRCLES. No comment from him really when she told him about THE PACKER'S SECRET. She hasn't heard from Al Rubbens about getting FREE FORM, etc. back. Told her about letter from Pantheon on AGOG. She'll try to see the Crest editor. She'll try to get me on the Joe Franklin show herself. Rcd. notice that my subscription to TOYS was running out.

(cont. from 6/16) [7/29] that of the games they had submitted, two look like they have a chance of being published: COUNTERBALANCE (see 7/8) and BORDERLINE (see 1968) which was worked up into an equipment game. [Started 7/29]
