been able to find one. He wants to read it. I gave him a copy, but asked him to return it after reading it, if I am not able to get more from Random House. Carl remarked, after seeing TANGLED WEB, TORTURE TOWER, and SPECTRUM, that he liked the way I prepare models. Some of the things he sees are in lousy shape. Carl hears that NINE OF SWORDS is not doing too well. He thinks that the designer did a lousy job on it. He said something about Playboy and Zerox going into games. I didn't get a clear idea about what is involved, but it seems to be on the retailing rather than the manufacturing end. It seems that Zerox will be taking out a full page ad in COSMOPOLITAN Magazine. AQUARIUS 2000 will take the top 1/3 and 19 other items, including NINE OF SWORDS, in the rest of the page. Carl said that Phil had submitted about half a dozen items to him, but so far PRIX is the only one that looks really promising. It has been changed to eliminate the board. Carl would love to do CONGLOMERATES, but can't handle the necessary publicity to put over a board game. Carl asked me why I haven't reviewed AQUARIUS 2000 and BRIDGEVERYONE in S&T. I said I can't afford copies. He said he'll send them to me. I said that I doubt whether many readers of S&T could afford them. He said he'd like to see the reaction to AQUARIUS 2000, and the review would justify giving me a copy. The Ariel game HOROSCOPE caught Carl's eye and he looked at it. He asked if I had any old games in my collection that were great. I said that I am sure there are a number, but before I had a chance to ask him what I'd get out of it, he said he had to leave. During the evening I mentioned "X" a few times. Carl tried to find out who they are and I wouldn't tell him. "I wouldn't give your secrets away."
Later looked at COLORAMA. Altho the games are completely dif- ference, the shape of the pieces are the same as in TROMINO GO. Thinking of using three hexes instead of three squares. [sketch of three connected hex shapes]
