(cont. from 6/28) [6/28]
been able to find one. He wants to read it. I gave him a
copy, but asked him to return it after reading it, if I am
not able to get more from Random House.
Carl remarked, after seeing <u>TANGLED WEB</u>, <u>TORTURE TOWER</u>,
and <u>SPECTRUM</u>, that he liked the way I prepare models.
Some of the things he sees are in lousy shape.
Carl hears that <u>NINE OF SWORDS</u> is not doing too well. He thinks
that the designer did a lousy job on it.
He said something about Playboy and Zerox going into games.
I didn't get a clear idea about what is involved, but it
seems to be on the retailing rather than the manufacturing
end. It seems that Zerox will be taking out a full page
ad in <u>''COSMOPOLITAN''</u> Magazine. <u>AQUARIUS 2000</u> will take the
top 1/3 and 19 other items, including <u>NINE OF SWORDS</u>, in the
rest of the page.
Carl said that Phil had submitted about half a dozen items
to him, but so far <u>PRIX</u> is the only one that looks really
promising. It has been changed to eliminate the board.
Carl would love to do <u>CONGLOMERATES</u>, but can't handle the
necessary publicity to put over a board game.
Carl asked me why I haven't reviewed <u>AQUARIUS 2000</u> and
<u>BRIDGEVERYONE</u> in <u>''S&T''</u>. I said I can't afford copies. He
said he'll send them to me. I said that I doubt whether many
readers of <u>''S&T''</u> could afford them. He said he'd like to see
the reaction to <u>AQUARIUS 2000</u>, and the review would justify
giving me a copy.
The Ariel game <u>HOROSCOPE</u> caught Carl's eye and he looked at it.
He asked if I had any old games in my collection that were
great. I said that I am sure there are a number, but before
I had a chance to ask him what I'd get out of it, he said
he had to leave.
During the evening I mentioned "X" a few times. Carl tried
to find out who they are and I wouldn't tell him. "I wouldn't
give your secrets away."
Later looked at <u>COLORAMA</u>. Altho the games are completely dif-
ference, the shape of the pieces are the same as in <u>TROMINO GO</u>.
Thinking of using three hexes instead of three squares.
