WEDNESDAY 2 JUNE Ember Day 1971 153rd day - 212 days to come

While I was out Felicia called. I'm to call her tomorrow morning.

Also while I was out { Andrew Davis, WO 2-1111 called. I'm to call back. He is the lawyer for Bob Riess, Bob Hallowell, etc. In the evening called Phil Orbanes to see if he knew what the call was about. Probably something to do with ORBIT (see 5/30).

Called Herb Siegel to ask about changing our date from 6/18 to 6/25. Probably O.K. He'll be in New York tomorrow and will call to confirm the date.

Played SPACE STIX with Dale. She beat me, and liked the game.

In my talk with Phil Orbanes I asked about Bob Hallowell and his getting in touch with me on MANHATTAN MADNESS. Phil said that Bob is all tied up with other things now and will get to me in a few weeks.

At Poundridge Reservation the attendent told me about a book that he said had a good amount of material on Indian (American) games. THE WOODLAND INDIANS by Ritzenthaler, (Am- erican Museum Science Paperback - Museum of Natural History).

ing return of the rights. I brought up the matter of what I owed because of re- turns. He said I can probably forget about it. I brought up the matter of the Book of Children's Puzzles. He said that if I would still deal with them after the way they treated me he would definitely like to discuss such a book. I said that I'd rather deal with Pantheon than Random House and that I'd be busy with other more immediately re- munerative projects until the middle of the summer. Then I will contact him.

Looked at Goren's BRIDGE FOR TWO. It had two dummies with 6 face down and 7 face up cards, the former being turned up when the latter are played. This is a little like OPEN BRIDGE, but it is a public domain idea in all the "Hoyles." Looked at PLAY AND DEFEND BRIDGE. Simply a device for dealing out set hands. GEMINI BRIDGE - dummies that are opened by stages.

Called Carl Eisenberg. He will come here 6/28 in the evening.

Wrote letters to: Gini Scott (NITTY GRITTY solutions); Frank Arm- bruster (POTENTIAL, PSYCHE-PAINS, etc.); NEO PRESS (PSYCHE-PATHS); (cont. on 8/1)
