Wrote to <u>Dr. Allen S. Mariner</u> who is fascinated with <u>ULTIMA</u>. Sent
him <u>Bob Abbott</u>'s address so he can write to him.
* <u>Barney L. Taylor</u> about his game of <u>HINDU CHECKERS</u>.

I told Al about some of my ideas for making his <u>WHIRLPOOL</u> into
a skill game. Most likely - have cards with different num-
bers which can be chosen to determine the number of
spaces to move the wheel.
He showed me a <u>PUZZLE</u> he is working on. There
[sketch of cylinder with two rows of different-colored squares surrounding]
are 4 rings as shown. The spaces are col-
ored in different arrangements of 4 (I be-
lieve) colors. Object is to place the 4 rings
on a spindle so that at each joint the colors
match. He said there was only one solution but I solved
it rather easily. | |||
Played <u>PLANES</u> and they liked it.
Made date for them to visit us 6/11.

<u>Claude</u> called. He was at the thrift stores and he saw a copy
of <u>DUET BRIDGE</u> for about $1. I thought I had it but
found that I didn't. Told him to go get it. He had already
picked up <u>BRIDGE FOR ONE</u> (M.B.) for about 25¢. Thought I
had this, but didn't. | |||

except that it was hard keeping track of what was
prohibited. Solved this neetly be providing 4 black chips.
Each time a player makes a transfer he places a chip
on the square which stops others from being placed on it
and also indicated sizes that can't be transfered again. If
a move on the field is made a chip is passed to the next
player. Thought of having a different allowable arrange-
ment of color matches for each player, avoiding automatically
reversable moves. Also think it might be a good idea to
