SUNDAY 23 MAY Sunday after Ascension 1971 143rd day - 222 days to come
Played 4-hand POTENTIAL with BB, Dale, and her friend Jack. He liked it. Dale didn't. It played quite well. Wrote a letter to Mary Hilt strongly stating that an added sheet should be included clarifying two points in the TRANSFORMATION rules.
Worked out a x-word puzzle with 60 definitions for my GAME.
(cont. from 5/22) [5/19] and short stubs leading to it are reached. Then players can capture by replacement. (Very rough idea.) Told Jerry that there is a real CHINESE CHESS and he said the name was being changed. They are interested in adding to the line and will call in a few weeks. I'll work thru Felicia, of course. Met Gini Scott showing games to Bob Hallowell and Carl Eis- enberg. Said hello but she wasn't pleased to see m.e Sgt. Pepper Sales: TURN-TAC-TOE (See 1970, except that the manufacturer is now given as Gamecraft - not Skor-Mor. Altho I may have been mistaken.); NIMBLE NUMBERS, ROAMIN NUMERALS and a letter GAME whose name I forget (didn't get details of the last two). They are supposed to send samples (pre- vious year's model and less fancy) of all except the first. They have a puzzle THE PHILOSOPHER'S DILEMMA, which is identical with PLATO'S PLIGHT. (They said the latter was a knock-off.) Four Generations: Attractive wood puzzles - MAGIC MARBLE, ODD BALL, PLUNGING PEG, REVOLUTIONS, SCULPTURE PUZZLE, GRAVITY TRAP. Also games NEW TIC TAC TOE (didn't get what was new), SHREWD MOVE (MARIENBAD), AFRICAN STONE GAME (MANCALA). (Later Frank Armbruster told me that he had ordered mancala boards from this company. He found that they were shipping him the seconds and selling the good ones to his customers) At a distributor saw AROUND THE WORLD IN BED (Diplomat). A target with pictures of different intercourse positions, each attributed to a country. A suction dart is thrown to choose one. Met Frank Armbruster and he, I, and Joyce Swayse to lunch at Childs. I offered, but Frank payed. Frank met Claude during day. He is ready to give Claude a contract for GENIUS BLOCKS. He was also thinking about doing BIG FUNERAL but Joyce thought it had a very limited market. I mentioned the article I was sent concerning MONOPOLY and Frank would like a copy. [crossed out] Told Frank about problem with three way split on DOMINO BEAD GAME. Showed him POTENTIAL and he liked the idea. Didn't have the board along, so I'll send it to him. Frank said he'd like a GAME using triangular pieces. I told him I'm sure I can come up with one. I also told him that he probably could get control of PSYCHE PATHS. He (cont. on 5/24)
