Rcd. a letter, addressed to <u>''S&T''</u> from the <u>FANTOCCINI</u> game. They
said they were enclosing a copy in hopes that I would want
to review it. The Skunk Works sent me the letter, but not the game.
Rcd. The <u>''GENERAL''</u> (May-June).
Rcd. <u>THE NAME GAME</u> from <u>Harry Lee</u> of Four Seasons Publ. Co. of
Canada. Together with a letter. He'll be sending more.
Called <u>Jim Dunnigan</u>. The game <u>FANTOCCINI</u> is there and I'll pick it
up tomorrow after my visit to Reiss, with <u>Phil Orbanes</u>.
Rcd. a package from <u>Lech Pijanowski</u>. Containing the soviet
book <u>''PIONERSKAJA IGROTEKA''</u>, a game (Polish) <u>POLOWY MORSKIE</u>,
and 8 of his original <u>PUZZLE</u>s (3 "Chain" and 5 "Island").
Called Felicia. She was very nervous about a meeting with Jim
Goldsbury to review the entire Hallmark game program. (She was
supposed to call back with results, but didn't.)
Told Felicia about NINETYSEVEN, Dynamic Enterprises, and
3M salesman's enthousiasm for EXECUTIVE DECISION.
Frank Armbruster here for lunch. Showed me the solution for
<u>MESHUGINAH</u>. He particularly likes this puzzle because all 12
pieces are identical. The other <u>PUZZLE</u> he sent me at
the same time is a series of three inside each other. 4 sided
solid on the inside, 6 sided next, and 12 sided on the
outside. A gal came up with a method of folding these
out of paper strips. (Later got a copy of <u>''THE FIBONACCI QUARTERLY''</u>
from Frank with her article on the method.)
Frank was interested in <u>''PIONERSKAJA IGROTEKA''</u> and I said I'd
get him copies of the pages he wants.
While driving to <u>Martin Gardner</u> I saw a game <u>MAZE CRAZE</u>
in a store window. Stopped & Frank bought it for me for $1.
We discussed a "Personality Series" of games. My <u>DOMINO BEAD GAME</u>,
Martin's <u>TOWER GAME</u> (under another name - and his doing the book-
let, not the inventor), <u>Frank Thibault</u>'s <u>TOTEM</u>. He is also interested
in <u>TAKE FIVE</u> (also under another name) if I can get a release from
Renwal. He can't afford an advance & I'll take early royalties in stock.
He is going to put out <u>CHAMELEON</u> (under a different name), at first
primarily for sale in schools.
There is a privately issued sensitivity <u>GAME</u> on the west coast. He
will get copies for himself and for me.
He brought up the idea of <u>SOLO CHESS</u> we discussed last year. He
was thinking along the direction of cubes with different pcs.
on the faces, <u>CHESS</u> pcs. that is. I said that I had some games
worked out using such cubes, but we didn't go into details.
I mentioned that I'd like a home for my collection. He knows
someone at the "California Academy of Sciences" and will talk
to him. He may be interested and may have some suggestions.
<u>Martin Gardner</u>: Brought <u>BLUE LINE HOCKEY</u> (an extra) for his boys.
Martin had a letter in his files from <u>Wade E. Philpott</u>,
[address], Lima, Ohio 45807 - who has found at
