To Stationery Show and got a Press Badge. To 3M: Dick Littlefield and the other salesmen were quite en- thusiastic about EXECUTIVE DECISION. Dick asked if I would do autographing appearances without compensation. I said, sure, as long as I get at least a few days advance notice. We missing Father's Day with EXECUTIVE DECISION because of changing the rules, but Brentanos will have it in their X-Mas catalog. SLEUTH will be advertised shortly. Harry Cunningham (I believe) said that TWIXT and ACQUIRE are the mainstays of the 3M line. STOCKS & BONDS had two very good years but has fallen off now. FACTS IN FIVE is strong right now. A sheet "What's New" lists SLEUTH, EVADE, HECTIX, KRESKIN'S KRYSTAL (KRESKIN'S ESP no longer put out by M.B. I was told), SPEED CIRCUIT, MR. PRESIDENT, EXECUTIVE DECISION. BAZAAR was dropped from the "Fun & Games" catalog. Cambe by a number of times during day but always missed Bill Caruson. Stancraft: Spoke to Hank Laub. He will see to the advance check as soon as he gets back. Told him about my objections to being an imitator in the matter of the wrap-a-round packing for [crossed out] AIRLINE. He said that the catalog shows it. I pointed out other differences. He'll check with Mary. TRANSFORMATION wasn't there till the afternoon when one copy came. It wasn't shown very prominently. I showed a salesman how to play and at one time we got mixed up between "available color" stones and "playing field" stones. Off course, the playing conditions weren't very good. Met Tom Atwater at Stancraft. He told me that Hallmark has sent three contracts for Alex: POT (TOO BAD - see 1967), BUFFALO, and THE MOEBIES. He doesn't like the contracts "hold harmless" and only $250 advance. (Didn't tell him Felicia got $500.) He was surprised that 3M didn't have GOOD KNIGHT out yet. With him to Vandow-Fenton where Joyce Swayse of Small Wonders was displaying some puzzles by Stewart Coffin and other non-game items (including prints by Tom's daughter). She may be preparing a catalog and would like to include AGOG. Told her of it being remaindered and she'll pick up some in Marboro. Tom said that he would act as my agent for a paperback publisher. We were supposed to discuss it further but never got around to it. Joyce took me a booth run by Rathcon featuring items put out jointly by The Museum of Modern Art and Playboy Magazine. One item was MULTIPLICATIONS (see 1970) in a clear set and one with pictures of nudes to be assembled. She would be interested in BAZAAR if 3M releases it. Tom said that 3M is still looking for another spot for PHLOUNDER. Tom has some friends who get gov't. money working on games. They now have some connection with industries who need training games. Tom asked if I would be willing to come up with those for a fee of $1,000±. I said I'd be willing to discuss it. I told Tom he should check with Alex about Entex' rules for !@#C&*!. (cont. on 5/16)
