To Brentano's looking for the two books <u>Claude</u> had told me
about but couldn't find them. Later called Claude to
ask in which section he had seen them. It was in the "Game
Book" section where I had looked. They must [have] sold out. I
asked him more info concerning the books. <u>''YOUR MOVE''</u> appeared
to be puzzles based on <u>CHESS</u>, <u>CHECKERS</u>, <u>GO</u>, and other
board games. (Claude had been interested since he was
thinking of doing a similar type of book.) <u>''A STUDY OF GAMES''</u>
was a series of essays on various aspects of games, rather
than rules of games themselves. // At Brentano's bought <u>''SERIOUS GAMES''</u>.
In 42nd St. library looked at copies of <u>''DER SPIEGEL''</u>:- all
of March '71 and the first 2 weeks in April. Couldn't find
the article on "Games for Adults."
In the March 15th issue there was an article on
<u>PUNKT IST PUNKT. FUSSBALL-SPIELE</u> which seems to be a
"soccer" game altho I couldn't understand much. In the same issue
there was an ad for a game put out by Shell called
<u>DAS GROSSE SHELL RENNSPIEL</u> (The Big Shell Racegame).
//At Marboro bought 4 copies of <u>''AGOG''</u>.
To { <u>Bob Reiss</u>, 230 5th Ave. Rm. 800
to meet <u>Phil Orbanes</u>. BB and I said hello to Bob Reiss. He
had just rcd. word that <u>NINE OF SWORDS</u> was doing well on a
test by "The Book of the Month Club." It was twice as
popular as <u>PITFALLS</u> and almost as popular as <u>ENIGMA</u>, which
lists for $6 - not $10 that <u>NINE OF SWORDS</u> lists for. Phil
said this was a test mailing and that now it probably will be
included in the fall mailing.
Phil and I went over what he wanted for <u>34 SKIDOO</u>. I gave
Phil one arrangement which I got from Kraitchik and he already
did 4. That left 7 for me and I have till the end of May.
Phil gave me catalog sheets for the Reiss line.
