FRIDAY 30 APRIL 1971

120th day - 245 days to come

At Mike Baschkopf's office wrote letters to: Phil Cohen (thanking him for sending me ULTRACHESS), Frank Armbruster Four Seasons Publishers (about KNIGHTS, THE NAME GAME, HAPPY LANDINGS, SNOOKUM, THE ELECTION GAME.) Arthur D. Katz (about his insurance GAME), and most of a letter to Stephen K. Howard (thanking him for sending me THE SOCIETY GAME). // At Push Cart bought another 2 PSYCHE-PATHS.

At Lorry's Book Store looked for the two books Claude told me about. (See 4/23). Didn't have them, but I got 3 copies of AGOG at $2 each and a copy of "Culin's" GAMES OF THE ORIENT for $3.75 - the full price. Pierre Berloquin was interested in this, and maybe I'll hear from him yet.
Saw a book FAMILY GAMES AMERICA PLAYS by "Walter Gibson" (Doubleday 1970) which had a lot of standards with cards, dominos, pencil & paper, and others. Also covers a number of proprietary games such as MONOPOLY, SCRABBLE, RACK-O, etc. - giving the rules.
WAR is called EVERLASTING and YACHT is called CHEERIO.

At Spiegel's on Nassau St. saw BOUNDARY and MASTERPIECE on sale for $5.28 (which would indicate a $6 list. They also had all of my 3M games.

In Mendozza Book Store bought THE BOOK OF INDOOR GAMES by "Stanley Pashko" for 75[cents]. Thought that I might have it, and I did.

Rcd. a card from Violet I. Gunther saying she was shipping BUNCO.

Rcd. a letter & catalog from Mary Hilt. The catalog had nice pictures of AIRLINE and TRANSFORMATION - tho they were faked.
Her letter said that she won't be in for the Premium Show. 3M was so mad at Mankato over the wrap-around board for AIRLINE that they refused to do the game at all. She will get another supplier but will miss the shows. She should be able to send me a completed TRANSFORMATION sometime next month.

Rcd. the puzzle MESHUGGENEH and the unnamed PUZZLE from Frank Armbruster. Took the first one apart. It is a real beaut to put together. (didn't do it.)

Rcd. a call from Susan Calhoun who is writing an article on board games for MONEY'S WORTH Magazine. She saw AGOG. BB told her I'd call her Monday morning.
