TUESDAY 27 APRIL 1971
117th day - 248 days to come
Called Fay Hertog to tell her that I haven't rcd. the 25 copies of AGOG. She'll check and call me back.
Called Herb Siegel and he was glad to hear from me. He is quite busy and we set June 18th (a Friday night) as the night for our visit.
Dave said that he'd like to play PLANES (he had seen the first board I made in my room). Made the pieces and then in the evening 3 games. I beat him badly but he wanted to play again.
Rcd. INTERNATIONAL WARGAMER (Vol. 4, Nos. 3 & 4 - March &
April '71) and the Supplement to the 2 of them.
[#]4 had an article on DIPLOMACY variations. Gave rules &
layouts for several different ALTERNATE WORLD DIPLOMACYs.
Also mentioned:- AIR-SEA DIPLOMACY, PLANTRI, KHANOMACY,
RAJOMACY, INDIANOMACY, SCOTTOMACY, MORDER VERSUS THE WORLD,
IMPERIALISM.
It also had ads for a new series of "Guidon Games":-
ALEXANDER THE GREAT ($6.95), DUNKIRK - THE BATTLE OF FRANCE
($7.50). Also a book CHAINMAIL - Rules for Medieval Miniatures.
(cont. from 4/28) [4/30]
Rcd. a letter from Michael Dummett. He is sending me copies of
the article on MINCHIATE and some chapters of his book.
He will send this air mail. After that he will try to keep
a steady flow, and will try to have the remainder when we
visit in September.
He is looking forward to getting my material, particularly that
on ALSOS.
He and his family have played several games from AGOG:-
LAST WORD (his wife only really likes word games), TAKE IT AWAY,
SLAM, THREE MUSKETEERS, CROSSINGS. //Played LIVE WIRE-S.S. with BB. She also didn't care much for it.
[started 4/30]
[TUESDAY cont.]
Changed WILD WOOD PILE by putting back the piece, which I changed when BB solved it so quickly (luckily I saved it). BB tried it again and didn't find it easy. I finally solved it, after quite a while. Marked the board to indicate an "easy" and "hard" solution.
(cont. from 4/26) [5/5] Bob Hallowell called to speak to Phil, then I spoke to him. Buyer reaction to THE NINE OF SWORDS had been a little slow. But the B-O-T-M result was good. He'll look at MANHATTAN MADNESS at the end of May.
