SATURDAY 24 APRIL | |||
1971 114th day - 251 days to come | |||
---- | |||
<u>Arthur</u> called. He & <u>Wald</u> are going to give free lessons in char- | |||
acter readings with the <u>HIGH DECK</u>. He thought that possibly BB | |||
might be interested in coming, or some of her friends. I told him | |||
that I'd check with BB and she'd call if she wanted to come. | |||
He also said that they have revised <u>FOLLY</u>, and that he'll show | |||
it to me when we get together. | |||
Rcd. a cassette from <u>Lech Pijanowski</u>. (I'll have to get a | |||
player so that I can listen to it.) | |||
Rcd. <u>THE LIB GAME</u> from <u>Gini Scott</u>. | |||
Wrote to <u>Keith Tuggle</u>, sending him a marked up set of rules for | |||
<u>EXECUTIVE DECISION</u>. Asked him to let me know that he rcd. it, | |||
also to eventually send me another set of the rules to replace the | |||
one I sent him. | |||
Wrote to <u>Jim Kraus</u>, thanking him for <u>SLEUTH</u> and telling him that I | |||
was eagerly awaiting his reaction to <u>PLANES</u>. | |||
Wrote to <u>Tom Atwater</u>. Thanked him for the 1st quarter check. | |||
Told him that I also haven't rcd. a check for <u>AIRLINE</u> & | |||
<u>TRANSFORMATION</u>. Sent comments on the following games:- | |||
<u>!@#C&*! GAME</u>, <u>TIC-TAC-TOTAL</u>, Stewart Coffin's <u>GAME</u>, <u>AZTEC</u>, | |||
<u>SKULL ISLAND</u>. | |||
Wrote to <u>V.I. Gunther</u> sending her $2 for <u>BUNCO</u>. | |||
Played my <u>GAME</u> idea of 4/18 with <u>Phil Laurence</u>. At first | |||
played that when your move was guessed you lost twice the num- | |||
ber, but you couldn't end up with less than 0 on a turn. | |||
This made it too attractive to gamble for big scores at the be- | |||
ginning of a turn. Then tried that you can get a minus | |||
score on a turn, but cannot go below 0 in your cumulative. This | |||
might work out, but I'll have to test it further. One possible | |||
idea - if a player hits - a certain number of times, he loses. | |||
Played <u>MASTERPIECE</u>. It is very attractive, but it is primarily | |||
a question of the luck of the dice throw and what value pic- | |||
tures you draw from the deck. "Private sales" add the most | |||
interest but the game ends before too many occur. | |||
Started thinking of variations to add more skill and | |||
came up with the following (not all done tonight): Players use | |||
dice to get their starting position (exactly how still to be de- | |||
termined) and then they move one space at a time. Each | |||
time it is their turn they must put up a picture for | |||
"private auction" - their choice. However, if no one bids on it, it is | |||
lost to the bank. When land on the space marked "Private | |||
Auction" it is done before or after the space instruc- | |||
tion. When a player has a chance to buy from the bank for a | |||
set amount and doesn't, there is no "Bank Auction." (This will | |||
have to be tried out.) |
