WEDNESDAY 21 APRIL 1971

11th day - 254 days to come

April PLAYTHINGS came. In their Fair review of "Adult Games" and "Board Games" their wasn't anything new to me. SLEUTH was put in the latter category.
CHESS was announced as the first "Classic Bookshelf Game."

Rcd. a letter from: [bracket] Harry Lee
Four Seasons Publishers Ltd.
3030 Pandosy St.
Kelowna, B.C.
Canada
He saw AGOG at a library and wrote asking me if I could give him any marketing ideas for the following games which he invented. He would be pleased to send me copies, when, ready, for my collection & appraisal. KNIGHTS, THE NAME GAME, HAPPY LANDINGS, SNOOKUM, THE ELECTION GAME.

Rcd. a FOCUS order, with 50 [cents]. He was also interested in my other games, as mentioned in Martin Gardner's Oct. '63 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN column.

To Felicia's bringing her a sandwich & PLANES. BB & I played part of a game to show her how it worked.
I took back WILD WOOD PILE which came back with the box broken in the mail.
Felicia showed me the letter from Kathy Brooks. She thought it was very original, but too difficult and frustrating, would like to like to see it again if made easier. The letter also rejected ZEC-HI saying it was obviously an excellent strategy game, but that they were not interested in this type at the present time.
We decided to send it back to 3M after I make it easier. She was annoyed with Keith Tuggle. He was the one who bounced ESCAPE and she didn't think he gave it a fair test. (But she did insist on a fast answer!)
She gave me a repro of a 4/13/71 letter from Bob Edwards. They are definitely going into games in a 5-year program that will cover 7 classifications (to be brought out in stages - first within 18 months, in the stores by 10/72):- Solitaire Games and Puzzles; Two Person Duels; Family Board Games; Social Games and Party Activities; Playroom Devices; Executive Pacifiers; Traditional Public Domain Games like CHESS and CHECKERS. These are all at the adult level.
They are sending $500 each for DUEL, TOTALLY & TROMINO GO. The INFERNAL BINARY MACHINE is still under consideration, but Family Board Games is not in the first group.
They'd like to see the simple version of LIVE WIRE. The one they have is 50-50.
He will rush PRECINCT NINE (Never heard of this one) thru as soon as he gets it so that it can be back by 5/1 if rejected.
She gave me a copy of an ad sheet for UNIVERSITY BRIDGE. The manufacturer of this was recommended to her by an
