Finally rcd. the two packs of cards from the Scott Company for seals
from 10 rolls of toilet paper.
Wrote up the material on PROFIT (see 3/22) and sent it,
with a letter to Jim Kraus.
Rcd. a second letter from an AGOG reader - Dr. Allen S. Mariner
(see 1/29 & 2/9). He is interested in MEM and ULTIMA -
would like to write to Bob Abbott.
Another AGOG reader, Barney L. Taylor, sent a letter and a
board for his game of HINDU CHECKERS. Would like advice in
marketing it. The rules are attached to back of board.
To Selchow & Righter. Got a copy of SENTENCE CUBE GAME & the
rules for RPM - it will be several weeks before copies are ready.
To G. & R. Looked at TRAFFICO - cards are divided into two halves like
dominos, with European traffic signs instead of spots. Secretary
said it was for children. Saw box for THE LIB GAME but it was empty.
They have CAVEAT EMPTOR, ETHICS, SOLAR BASES & RECKON but
didn't have time to study them. They also have NEW TOWN, EMOTE,
& VERBUM EST.
To Felicia. Alfons Rubbens there. Showed him FREE FORM.
Played 2-hand and it certainly didn't end too soon. He liked it
but said it was similar to something he was working on.
He liked OVER 'N OVER but didn't want to do anything with it at
present. I suggested TAKE FIVE for the record packaging
and we will take a look at a copy he has. I also suggested
DOMINO BEAD GAME and he will look at it in AGOG.
Felicia showed him GENIUS BLOCKS. He liked it but said it would
be too expensive for him to produce. He also liked
TWELVE CIRCLES but didn't take it with hi,. He liked TRY-ANGLES
and did take it with him for costing.
Felicia had another date and I walked to the Algonquin Hotel
with Alfons. He told me about the thing that he said was like
FREE FORM. It is MIND MASTER (see 3/9) which he mentioned
to me before. It is a series of 84 cubes, similar to
those used in BEAT THE ELF and KOLOR KRAZE (he gave me copies
of these two puzzles) but instead of being welded together
they can be clipped in different arrangements. He has some
games and puzzles worked out, but would like more. He would
like me to work out some, including a version of FREE FORM. Since
a lot of the work is his, he suggested a 2 1/2% royalty. I said
O.K. except that I would prefer to keep FREE FORM for
sale elsewhere and work on new things for him. He thought
that was fair - but he'd like to check out the cost of his
doing it. I suggested a line with TRY-ANGLES, which he
agreed with. He took it with him even tho it wasn't
finished and only had the rules outline. He felt that my
