Third Sunday in Lent 73rd day - 292 days to come

Pete Swift over. He has ordered the material for 500 copies of EL TABLERO DE JESUS. He thinks he will be able to get some publicity. He also said he wants to go to see Bob Reiss as soon as everything is ready. There are some questions about the packaging and I suggested that, as long as he intended seeing Reiss anyway, he should see if he had specific ideas on the packaging. He said he would.
Played 11 games and I won 5-6. Made a few small adjustments and it plays quite well.
I'll write the rules and send them to him early next week.

In evening started working on the new layout of cards for NOMINATION, based on the 1970 census reap- portionment.

Tom's daughter came up with Tom will invest the de- velopment costs on this himself. This came up when I mentioned my doing games like BAZAAR. In other words, "Small Wonders" will not put up the money for them. Creative Playthings is interested in two (I believe) of Alex' non-game items. So far they have steered clear manufacturing games themselves.
I told Tom about Mary seeing and playing and liking SPELLBINDER.
We will each contact the other as soon as we get any info.
In talking about the contract, I told Tom about the $250 being an advance on royalties. He wasn't too happy about this, but didn't try to talk me out of signing.

Claude called. He saw WHO CAN BEAT NIXON? advertised in New York Magazine. Gave him a rundown on what happened in the last week.

In my talk with Tom I asked about the rules to Alex' games he promised to send me. They are in a valise which is still at Boston airport and he hasn't had the chance to go in to pick it up.
He mentioned a 3-hand CHESS GAME which another client had, played on triangular shaped spaces. I told him that there had been several 3-hand ventures and that I would see how original this was if he sends me the rules. He will.
They have many responses to the mention of Martin Gardner's name in the SOMA ADDICT.
