WEDNESDAY 3 MARCH 1971

Ember Day 62nd day - 303 days to come

To Renwal. Spoke to Jerry Goldstein. He expects this year to be better for TAM-BIT, TAKE FIVE, etc.
Samsonite. AMOEBA is only being test marketed in 11 cities this year and they'd rather not get any publicity.
Hasbro. The NBC games are being discontinued. They only have children's games now.
Gabriel Industries. SPIRO T. AGNEW AMERICAN HISTORY CHALLENGE GAME is not ready yet, but the one I spoke to said it was a sim- ple question game. He doesn't think they will go further into games, but he took my card in case they do. He was inter- ested in S&T and I offered him a copy. He declined after seeing it, but took the reprints of my columns.
Avalon Hill. Tom Shaw already gone.
To room 406 looking for Charly [Charley?] Parker but he had already left town. I'll have to write and send him an inscription for his copy of AGOG (if he bought it).
To M.B. and said hello to Mel Taft. Then to another office to say hello to Mickie Mackay. [crossout] We arranged to meet at 12 for lunch in the 200 club and I was to have her assistant, Helene, make a reservation.
Funtastic. They were listed. But in the room they told me that they had sold out to Lakeside.
Transogram. No adult games. (The Fair daily put out by TOYS said that Transogram had filed chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
To M.B. again. Then lunch with Mickie, Helene, Patricia Mallette (editor of the Milton Bradley News), and a photographer. Mickie told me that Mike Alber, the Parker Bros. P.R. man, wanted to meet me. Back to showroom to see the line.

TOWER CLIMB:- Maneuver balls to the top of a tower using skewers in holes in the balls. As you try to get your ball over the top to drop into opponent's side he can try to knock it back to your side.
KARATE CHOP:- One player holds the two interlocking pcs. and tries to move them out of the way as the other player tries to hit them and separate them.
SWING SWANG:- A ball mounted on a pendulum with string arranged to move at the fulcrum. Object to swing the ball into as many as possible of 12 openings, in a definite order, in a time limit.
VOICE OF THE MUMMY:- Players move by the orders of the special records which, by spiral grooves, produces random directions. Object is to pick up jewels and a special jewel at the top which allows the player to take the "cobra". Once this is done the record is turned over to produce directions governing the player's attempt to get the "cobra" back to safety. (Very rough idea.)
Mickie gave me a copy of DRIVE YA NUTS. I'll get the
