MONDAY 22 FEBRUARY 1971

53rd day - 312 days to come

Rcd. a set of SLEUTH rules (from Jim Kraus I presume). None of the changes I made were incorporated. The only important one is the lack of identifying "Additional Interro- gations" as the desired version, and Jim already wrote that this won't be done, until the next edition.

Called Tom Atwater in Concord. He is out of town (not in New York). I left word for him to contact me as soon as possible,

Called Carl Eisenberg and he called me back. Told me of the various ways he had attempted to cost out MANHATTAN MADNESS, but couldn't get it under a $16 sales price. Bob Reiss liked it but felt it should be $7 or $8.
Called Bob Hallowell. Not in. If he calls Jean today she'll have him call me. If not it will probably be Wednesday.

Felicia called. She was at the Gift Show. Her answering service reported that Bob Edwards had called and asked for my tele- phone number. She told me to call him collect. Did. He wanted to talk about the lost model of WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? which they can't trace. He said that he didn't know whether it was worth $10 or $1,000. I said that I'd forget about being paid if he would promise that X would back me up if someone came out with a knocked-off version, since they have a record of the game (not in those words). He said they certainly would, and seemed pleased to be off the hook. I said that we were working together to ac- complish something big, and that the time would un- doubtedly come when I'd need a favor from them.
They are still having trouble convincing the big wheels, and probably won't be coming out till next spring. I brought up FITTING & PROPPER and he said possibly they'd have that out by the end of the year, but not sure. I said that if they could give us a positive date we would overlook the failure to meet the contract time.
I asked about LIVE WIRE and he said it was quite a bit different than he remembered playing it with me and Rudy. I answered that I had to make it work. I told him about Rudy's easy game (LIVE WIRE-QUICK SHOCK) and my suggestion that a two sided board be included. He liked the idea and wants to see the new game. I said that I'd have to iron out some wrinkles and write the rules, and I couldn't get to it until after the Toy Shows. He said OK.
TROMINO GO is popular so far and they are having prototypes made up for further testing. They like the fact that it seems deceptively simple, making players play once more to get it licked.
TOTALLY - has not been too popular. I mentioned that
