SUNDAY 31 JANUARY 1971
Transfiguration (Lutheran)
First U.S. Satellite Orbited 1958 31st day - 334 days to come
While looking at the "Gameways" catalog noticed that the OH-WAH-REE rules have 7 different versions. Looked at my set and I don't have them. Will have to get a new rules folder.
Times had a Bergdorf Goodman ad for DIRTY WATER & ECOLOGY. (Filed in 1971 Ad Clips.)
Claude's game 15-TAC-TOE (see 1/27) started me thinking of
a GAME. Use a 4x4 field and numbered pcs. - say
2 sets of number from 1 to 8. Players in turn place
one pc. in any position. After all pcs. are placed
each row & column is totaled. One player scores all
odd totals, the other all even totals. Play in rounds
of two to equalize the chances.
Other possibilities use two sets of from 1 to 10
and leave 4 pcs. unused at the end. Or remove 4 pcs.
at random before starting to achieve different starting
positions. Or possibly use two sets of from 1 to 12;
remove 4 at random; and leave 4 unused at end.
Wrote to Tom Atwater about Mary Hilt's letter con- cerning TRANSFORMATION and AIRLINE. BB types this and yesterday's letter to Jim Kraus.
Gave a copy of TAM-BIT to Marylin's Elliot. Showed him how to play a STRATEGO game he rcd. and lost a game to him.
(cont. from 2/20) [2/22]
better but not spectacularly.
I asked him if the game SOLAR BASES was his since it was
sold from Cherry Hill. No, it is, he believes, put out by a
professor. He bought a copy and doesn't think it is very
good. BUGS & LOOPS he thinks is good as a game, tho not parti-
cularly good in teaching about computers.
He had been intending to call me about getting together. He
was thinking of driving here some Sunday in the spring
with his wife and children, age 11 & 13.
I told him about leaving engineering and about my
operation.
[arrows pointing up and down] [started 2/22]
I told Felicia that I hadn't rcd. the copy of
RACE THRU SPACE GAMES I was promised. Felicia offered
me one of the two she rcd. I'll pick it up Thursday.
