1/11 1/10 TUESDAY 12 JANUARY 1971 12th day - 353 days to come
Rc'd. a letter from Violet I. Gunther. I can get the copy of TOURING for $3 plus .50¢ postage.
Rc'd. a note from Frank Armbruster that he was sending me a copy of TAKE FIVE (the California one), and also a PUZZLE.
To Copyquik and got repros of ALSOS and MARIAS for Michael Dummettt. Also made repros of the MANHATTAN MADNESS rules- 2 copies. Also 12 copies of column from S&T #24, and some pages from others to send to Frank Thibault.
At Speakeasy Antiques, on Broadway north of 8th St. bought a copy of SPOOF (M.B. 1918) for $6.00 plus tax.
To Carl Eisenberg and gave him the MANHATTAN MADNESS rules. He read thru them and found them clear. Gund decided not to put any more money in the business. He is trying to raise it elsewhere, but it is rough. He should know by the end of this month. He said if I have someone else to show it to, he'd understand. I said that I would want it by Toy Fair, but not likely before.
To Felicia. She had just called BB about a letter from Bob Edwards. TOTALLY & TROMINO GO were received fairly well and are still in testing. LIVE WIRE sounds exciting. He remembers playing it with Rudy & me and is looking forward to seeing it soon. (Told Felicia I'd try to have it ready Friday of next week when she comes over.) COFFEE BREAK from the picture looks like it is all luck and doesn't excite them. Games did very well at X'Mas in the Kansas City area and the higher ups at X are showing some interest. (Felicia said that Jim Goldsberry (?) showed more enthousiasm - when?) No mention of WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? and Felicia will ask again. Jerry Green told Felicia that their game would be called THE DICTIONARY GAME and would retail for $5.98. Some people in Spokane manufacture a word GAME that retails for $2.95 and want Felicia to handle it. When, and if, she gets a copy she will give it to me. She showed me a game called LIKE THE PROS BASKETBALL. The offensive and defensive player each pick, in secret, a play. The results are picked out on a grid. If a shot is called for, the spot on the court is also spec- ified and a different set of result cards is placed (cont. on 1/11)
